  1. I think this would be the sensible option.
  2. Agreed. I have been extolling the virtues of the full name for some time.
  3. Plenty of other clubs, because we are clearly on the up, will be happy to put the boot into us. Do we really need to be kicking ourselves?
  4. Should we not be doing the same for Mrs. Ramsey?
  5. Will he be replaced? Is there any top flight club run by the manager. I liked Purslow - hope the owners have not made a mistake here.
  6. I feel rather uneasy about this move. And, much as I love Emery, I am very uneasy about the suggested importance he may have. That seems to put too much power in the hands of the manager.
  7. Watkins gives you more than just goals. His energy is phenomenal, he provides assists, pass before assist, chases and harries defences, always a willing outlet when the defence is under pressure. Very important part of Emery's system. Doubt he will be going anywhere, nor should he.
  8. Keep Watkins. Duran out on loan. Replace Bailey and Traore with someone better. Check out Archer over preseason to see if he is good enough even for a minor role.
  9. Ellis. No one else comes close for the damage he did to our club.
  10. Very much this. All those wasted years under his rule.
  11. How could our squad be a similar level to 4th and 18th placed teams? The gulf between those two teams is massive. We are also very unlikely to finish top 4 and just as unlikely to finish bottom half unless we have a disastrously different season to the season just ended. That's why 2nd to 20th is unrealistic whereas 5th to 10th, as I suggested, is realistic.
  12. Would that not be unrealistic. I think realistic would be 5th to 10th.
  13. Unless we have a CB from our youths ready to step up, I feel with just Mings, Konsa and Carlos we are a little bit light.
  14. Belated Happy Birthday, young man. I will be 80 in January. it's a great age. You're looking great.
  15. I am going to be pedantic here. The thread should be ``How high could we finish'', in that every team in the PL can finish first. Having got that off my chest, I am confident we will finish at least top 6. We would probably have been top 6 this season if Emery had been with us since the start of the season, or even if we had had a couple more decent players. Top 4 will be incredibly difficult, but with this manager, anything is possible. ``The times they are a-changing''.
  16. Yep. Think it was his first time back at Villa Park playing for United, he left a trailing leg and won a penalty for them. He used to do it for us, and he was just being a professional, but it still caused a lot of bitterness.
  17. Makes absolute sense. His age is against him, and he would be blocking the chances possibly for a younger player, but more likely for an elite player to whom Cash will be backup. Don't really want him back for sentimental reasons as a coach either unless he has earned it. We expect the players to be professional and we should expect the same of the club - and that is what this is. He was great for us both times, in particular was truly amazing first time, and that first time will live long in our memory. Thanks for every thing and good luck.
  18. Fantastic. Emery is a bloody magician. Good times ahead.
  19. This is, literally, a must win game if we are to have an unexpectedly wonderful season. (although, even if we lose, it will still be an unexpectedly wonderful season)
  20. We were brilliant first half, and we deserved to win that. That was a terrible penalty miss. They did not look as if they would ever score - until they did. I thought at one point we were going to run out of players. And now for Brighton; we can do this.
  21. Likewise. He does not look confident and I am never feel confident that he can score it either.
  22. Shame Watkins missed that penalty. 2 up would have been brilliant and not undeserved. Could be an expensive miss, but hope not.
  23. Anyway, his comment would suggest that he is here for the long haul. And that is very good news.
