  1. Andi has often run himself into the ground with 10/15 minutes to go. Tonev might be an option then if we are not defending a slender lead.
  2. Looks like I am in quite a small minority here, perhaps as little as one. And for what its worth, I always thought AVFC was `americanisation'.
  3. Sorry. Did not make myself clear. I meant the badge. I feel that that is quite a noticeable part of our image, and always, as far as I know, carried our full name. And no, not some daft name, but the proud name that we have carried for all these years. I just feel that the name `Aston Villa' has lost its prominance.
  4. Interesting that Hull City AFC intend to change their name to Hull Tigers for marketing purposes. I have always been of the opinion that our change to AVFC was misguided in that Aston Villa is so instantly recognisable, so very unique, and has that `certain something' about it. It has also been mentioned many times by posters on this and other sites that the name was one of the first things to catch their attention, and this is particularly true of international supporters. Although tradition means a lot, I am always happy to embrace new ideas, but whereas Hull City are stepping forward with their name change, in my opinion AVFC is so bland that we should really be stepping back for a unique and much more marketable option.
  5. Agree with `Dodgyknees' - my first thought was `Hairyhands' - HH = MM.
  6. I like Paul Lambert's philosophy and attitude, though he can be surprisingly rash at times. In spite of the tribulations of last season, it was quite exciting towards the end of the campaign. The way we broke forward at times was absolutely thrilling. This could well be another bumpy season, but I can see the plan, and I get the feeling that manager and owner work together well and are committed to that plan.
  7. I cannot understand why some the players we have cannot whip in the corners and free kicks. Surely if they were told to do so, as professional footballers, they should be able to do it. It should not be beyond their capabilities. Do they not even practice this? It seems so blindingly obvious. Did we not score from a corner that Westwood whipped in? Not using this as an argument for not getting Kiyotake in, by the way. I do think we need a quality AM.
  8. Having recovered from cancer myself, my opinion is that the applause should stop now. It is enough to know that people have supported you, and continue to do so, and doing something special annually or supporting cancer research in other ways would be beneficial and I suspect very much appreciated by Stan.
  9. Lowton could well be the next one to get attention from other clubs. Many of the players seem to have bought into Paul Lambert's mantra of a young, hungry team growing together. He now needs to grow the team fast enough to retain them.
  10. I am a big fan of Weimann. Full of enthusiam and energy during the match, and always seems to have a smile on his face on the photos from training. Very happy he signed a new contract without any fuss, and also think and hope he will become an important player for us in the future, if we can keep him.
