  1. Just some quick Googling around and social media check pretty much confirms this is a sham of a group. At best a money laundering opp - Dr. Tony style. None of my Singaporean friends have ever heard of them.
  2. I would think any money spent on such positions would be in addition to our greatest needs, not instead of.
  3. With regards to signing players from the SPL (or Championship for that matter), I believe you need to properly scout them and evaluate them across various metrics and also consider your team's playing style. Purely signing players on their stats is a mistake and why the likes of Hogan and McCormack did not work out.
  4. Crazy respect to the village and the initiators. I tried doing something similar in Nepal and Villa (Steve Stride specifically) was kind enough to send over a whole bunch of used kits. I distributed them to footballers at a club I was sponsoring. However, as the years passed pretty much all the footballers ended up following the glamour clubs. Very disappointing.
  5. Trying to think of a case of a player who redeemed themselves after a massive dip in form.
  6. When you look at the PL goal scorer list, only 6 players outside the Big 6 scored more than 10 goals. Therefore I feel goal ratios are not so important. We need to identify forwards that keep the opposition honest by helping control possession and being a menace in the attacking third. That's what our current front line struggles to do.
  7. Bologna have a sister club in MLS - Montreal Impact, who recently signed a promising Spurs u18 defender. Wouldn't be surprised if part of the pitch is for him to play there for a year or two. Thierry Henry is the coach.
  8. I share your optimism. My only concern is that we do not operate in a vacuum and we will have to compete against other ambitious clubs (Leicester, Leeds, Everton) and navigate FFP to start challenging the current "Big 6" clubs. The upcoming transfer window will give us a good indication of the future.
  9. Wish the Claret & Blue clubs would make some sort of pact where each one would have a unique shirt design.
  10. The investment in the Academy and Women's team makes me confident that our owners are committed to the long-term development of the club and this not just a toy or a quick flip for them.
  11. Happy to see the club act quickly. It suggests that they have a clear plan. I presume Lange will have been identified several weeks back and is prepared for this transfer window. Also reading the PR it seems a big part of his focus will be on advancing our sports science and player development.
  12. Seeing that the priority is on bringing in attacking players, we should keep him for now. As someone mentioned earlier we need at least 4 senior CBs in the squad and he is competent enough for the PL.
  13. Seeing how many of our players from a few years back turned out (Ayew, Amavi, Traore, Gueye), I am hesitant to write-off players too quickly. I hope this change is well thought-out and we have a better replacement lined-up and this is not just a case of finger-pointing.
  14. I believe the feeling is that he wants to play regularly and most see him as a back-up option. Thus better to sell him if a decent offer comes in.
  15. I'd move on Nyland, Jota, Lansbury and Samatta. Definitely keep Taylor and Nakamba. They are decent squad players.
  16. The feeling was better when I was resigned to relegation.
  17. Those calling for 10+ signings have not learned the lessons of this season. If we remain in the Premiership, 3-4 solid signings should be our aim. If we go down, obviously it will need to be much more due to potential departures of our top players.
  18. I believe the tightening of our defense is partly due to his new found form. His mistakes led to quite a few of the soft goals we let in. Impressed with how he has turned it around.
  19. One additional advantage we may have going into the last round of matches is that West Ham will not be desperate for 3 points, thus I can see both teams settling for a draw in the final minutes if Watford are losing to Arsenal. Also Burnley not losing to Brighton helps, as BHA are competing against West Ham for 15th spot - which is worth an additional GBP 3M or so
  20. I saw a few of the 2020/21 kit mock-ups and it reminded me how much I despise our current badge. Here are the issues I have with it: Gold lion on light blue background doesn't work (light on light) Only us and Forest have European Cup stars embedded in our crests. It's small time and diminishes the rest of the club's glorious history. Also looks like a cat playing with a ball of yarn AVFC should be Aston Villa as we have one of the most unique names in professional club football. The club poll that decided on AVFC was flawed. There were 3 Aston Villa options (Aston Villa, Aston Villa FC and Aston Villa F.C.) and 1 AVFC option, so the vote was split between the full name options Now that we are really promoting our womens team, it would also be a nice touch to have a version of our logo with a lioness. Rangers did this with their latest badge update. I'd also like to see a secondary logo with interlocking A and V. Would look cool on merch.
  21. I couldn't see WBA at home drawing QPR or Barsnley defeating Brentford or Swansea overcoming a 5 goal goal difference against Forest. All three happened last night.
  22. The Championship results tonight are a bit of a reality check. Sunday will be a roller-coaster ride.
  23. Believe the Wigan situation could be related to this too. Good chance the Hong Kong owners were told by the CCP to pullout of the club due to the UK-China tensions over HK's autonomy.
  24. I envision a scenario where if Arsenal are comfortably defeating Watford, West Ham and Villa will just knock the ball around and play out for a draw. I can imagine this happening maybe from the 70th minute onwards, thus making the final 20-25 minutes of the match somewhat bearable.
