  1. Yes that's a great point and probably best illustrated by The Beatles.
  2. Well to a certain extent surely. For instance, take the U2 blokes; Larry Carlton could play anything that The Edge(?) could play I guess. Steve Gadd could play anything that whoever the U2 drummer is .. but they couldn't play what Carlton and Gadd can play. So I guess that makes the latter 2, better musicians. Vocalists - definitely subjective.
  3. Yes , yes "deleted" very amusing ! No ' I just felt that posting personal opinions which run so counter to popular opinion isn't a good idea. Particularly as I was never famous myself but did play with some ace musos (2 or 3 in chart bands). So I deleted it. What's that about 'better to be thought a fool ....'
  4. or it could be that the poster is just damned good at his/her job and non-judgemental.
  5. Views on Boycott are often polemic. Yes he could bat but :- ducked out of the Trip to Australia so didn't face Lilian Thompson (left to Denis Amiss from memory) and ran out one of my favourite (non Warwickshire) players Derek Randall on his home ground with a totally selfish piece of cricket. Realise it is just an opinion though.
  6. I may be the only person on here old enough to remember this but .. when we were in the old Third Division we signed a centre half from Coventry called George Curtis. He was probably past his best for Cov but (IMO) he made a huge difference to our leaky defence at the time. Surely there is a possibility Terry could do a similar job ? I think George invented the expression about taking no prisoners !!!!
  7. Surely it could be argued that he is just sticking to his principles in much the same way that Corbyn does. One difference seems to be that Corbyn gets lauded for doing that.
  8. Paul Rogers of 'Free' and 'Bad Company' ?
  9. Gregg Allman gone. Great exponent of 'Southern Rock'. Once married to Cher I think. RIP
  10. A significant number of prisoners would not be eating hotdogs I think !
  11. Sounds like me and "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover".
  12. I had you down as a more 'Classical Gas' (Mason Williams) man.
  13. Albums:- Can't Buy a Thrill - Steely Dan; Countdown to Ecstasy - Steely Dan ; AJA - Steely Dan ; Best of Kanye West (this latter one to help start the campfire which will doubtless be required) Books:- The Bible ; Wind in the willows ; Bleak House ; Neuromancer (William Gibson); The Life and Times of Dolly Parton (illustrated) Boxset - Bugs Bunny Object - large, signed photo of Ant and Dec + set of darts.
  14. Kraftwerk doesn't count as proper music - no acoustic drums !
  15. and Worcs have got Nathan Lyon !!! What the hell were Warks doing when he became available ?? Particularly important as we may lose (arguably) our best player, Jeetan Patel, to The Blackcaps ! I've got a very nasty feeling about the coming season; could be an interesting year to be a Warks and Villa fan.
  16. People of a certain age might remember Michael Foot and 'the longest suicide note in history'. I wonder if Corbyn has just taken the top off his biro to try and beat it.
  17. and already, Giles is saying we will be in a fight to stay up. You have put your finger on it with the lack of signings; couldn't understand Evans departure at all and heard the Chopra's wife was unhappy in the Midlands - don't know if that was true though. Makes me wonder if the money spent on our (members) 'Gift Packs' and glossy brochures could have better invested in players !
  18. Goodness me ! That's him and john Wetton gone in the same year. Some of the cream of British musicians. Very sad.
  19. In about 1956 (shows how old I am !) I had a toy car made by "Distler" - think that is right spelling. It was German and powered by a small battery thingy which my Dad called an 'accumulator'. You charged it up with a specific charger shaped like a petrol pump. It didn't run for all that long but was pretty cool for the time. Now , things have moved on a bit since then but we,apparently, still can't produce a viable battery to power a car. Would it be cynical to suggest that there are vested interests at work in not progressing such development. NB watch 'The Stone Cutters' episode of The Simpsons for a hint.
  20. I might be able to add something to this point but my knowledge could be out of date now - having retired some years ago from the Public Sector. Local Govt used CIPFA qualified accountants who, in my day were considered very second rate behind the 'big 3 ' Chartered , Certified and Cost and Management. They always worked on the principle that if you underspent your budget you had it reduced next year; so you were not rewarded for prudence. This applied across all L.A's not just Education. Madness I thought - but I was only a 'mere clerk or servant' !
  21. I really hate to say this, honestly, but should that be 'morale' 'Cos I agree with you 100% otherwise !!!!
