  1. The name Rushian Hepburn-Murphy should be in mind during negotiations.
  2. Think this may well be the driving force behind us paying ~£40m now despite any off field concerns. Would improve us dramatically.
  3. Great player, legitimate off field concerns. Would be an immense signal of intent from the club. Next season we could be a force.
  4. Wow. Never heard of that before. Probably the most compelling story I’ve heard to back up banning blades instead of studs.
  5. Think this transfer may have legs, but it’s going to cost us a club record fee by some margin.
  6. Could be interesting to see if the calibre of players interested in joining improves with Gerrard here. Would not be surprised to see a hefty spend in January, considering our break even summer.
  7. Anything less than a 4-0 win for Villa will be a great result for Burnley.
  8. Makes you think what could have been if we had beaten Wolves and Southampton in that dreadful run. Then again, would we have won 4 out of the last 6 without the management change.
  9. Would probably take £1.5mil at this stage, let alone £15m. wasn’t entirely his fault of course, but it’s not going to happen here for him.
  10. Sanson and Buendia to start. Purely because both of them will be fired up to prove a point, albeit to different people.
  11. Important to note that after the Liverpool game, the sides we are yet to play in the first round of fixtures are Norwich, Leeds and Burnley. Probably the lowest average position run of fixtures in the league. I know they are not the next three fixtures, but the point stands. If we maintain our good form, there are 9 points to be had there, and we could conceivably be looking at top 7. Having said this, we will probably beat Liverpool and get a point from those three now.
  12. Have to say I thought he was out of contract this summer, but Gerrard says he has 18months left. Feel a bit more at ease at the contract situation, but still need him to sign on.
  13. Couple of nice touches there. Fair play to him.
  14. Funny how people see the same game. I thought he was one of the better players on the pitch for us today.
  15. Amazing statistic. That as John Percy has eluded, may be the ultimate thing that brings him down, not the 5 in a row so muchZ
  16. Thanks for the great times Dean, genuinely. I think it’s for the best for all concerned now.
  17. Understand what you are saying. He went through personal tragedy whilst with us and did stop the boat sinking. But he was never a long term solution in my eyes, and the obvious Smith/Villa connection gives Smith the edge.
  18. I think this all stands on a knife-edge - and I have never felt that I've wanted a manager to get it right quite as much as I have with Smith. I really think whatever happens in the next 3 weeks, he has been a great success for us and we need to remember where we were and where we are now. I think there are two footballing outcomes from the Southampton match - Ings comes back and does them over in a comfortable Villa win, or Ward-Prowse scores a 25yrd free kick condemning us to defeat and Smith to a dismissal.
  19. This is probably the first time the owners have a genuine decision to make regarding the manager. Bruce was such an easy decision. I think the players body language might be telling us everything. Just so lost out there.
  20. So easy to forget he is only 26, and his best years are probably still a couple of years away.
  21. Feel bad for the guy, clearly very upset at having to come off.
