  1. After completing the DS9 marathon it's on to Enterprise. Or rubbish Star Trek as it's called in this house. I always think Hoshi and Phlox are a bit hard done by, the performances and characters don't deserve to be in the franchise killer. But it really is laughable. And that theme tune......
  2. Aaron Taylor Johnson - the kid from kick ass - has been offered Bond apparently
  3. Just stop buying plastic toothrushes. That's when they'll stop making them.
  4. I dunno about the razors. Why not just have replacement heads made of brushes? weirdo.
  5. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Tori Amos
  6. I think Kerr's loan was cancelled as reported on Friday https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-loan-move-cancelled-28828155
  7. Quite. I was too young to remember the political machinations, but I remember seeing the police on horsies with their truncheons in the newspapers and on the telly. Seminal moment. Both for the young minds of me and my friends growing up to bear witness to, and as others have alluded to, for the country as a whole.
  8. I have to say mine are pretty helpful, but the thing I tend to lose each time I ask them a question is hundreds of pounds for the next license
  9. The legal disclaimer bit, as ever, is contact your local authority (Council planning dept) and enquire - but as I understand it the rules say that if it is within 2m of any boundary then the total height of the building (including roof) must not exceed 2.5m. The difference being that once 2m away the building could reach 3m - 4m in total with different style roofing but the eaves must still be a maximum of 2.5m as others have said Planning Portal
  10. I'd certainly argue that the roots of the problem pre-date the 1980's and the ditching of the Fairness Doctrine in '87. Bernays was writing books about propagana in the 20's and helping the CIA overthrow democraticaly elected foreign governments (Guatamala et al) in the 50's. The film Network was made in '76. Agree with this bit. I'd add that it's very much by design. Surkov's 'non linear warfare' is hardly confined to Putin's Russia. The ditching of the Fairness Doctrine certainly helps to enable the misinformation of the post truth era imo, but it hardly codified impartiality, much like our ofcom rules. It more stated that opposing opinion(s) must be presented alongside others, with hindsight perhaps leading to the birth of counterpoint journalism, itself I'd argue contributing massively to the proverbial race to the bottom in news standards.
  11. sorry to hear that mate. Far too early.
  12. O? O? So it's not DN-U on your Avatar? Heck out!
  13. the Zapp one there might well be the inspiration for...
  14. Having re-read it it is particularly badly worded. I'm just going off the thought that if it had been anyone else there might have been the potential for a bit of doubt in my mind, but the day @tonyh29 is posting in defense of any "lefty loons" is the day we all know he's been hacked or we're living in a sim, or both
  15. Same I don't think it was aimed at you @mottaloo.
  16. yeah, exactly my take, the first 2 albums are chocked full of Analogue Synth loveliness
  17. I think there'll be lots of reflection after this tbh. The fans consoling themselves with it being a young team is only going to last so long. The WRU stumble from embarassing expose to embarassing expose. And you're not alone in bemoaning the state of the proverbial conveyor belt. The reality of gutting the national league structure chasing the money with the franchises along the M4 is hitting home I think. The way Ireland set up the provinces might be the way out of it if 3 or 4 teams is Wales's quota in the professional structure over by here. But in reality the professional game is being run by the WRU in Cardiff in a very Cardiff centric way. Places like Pontypridd, Neath, Ebbw Vale and so on that historically churned out players are places with real social issues, poverty, unemployment, crime, drugs - and will likely never have the funding to compete or even operate at any national level. It's far from the death knell of Welsh Rugby but they're proper hurting tonight. The streets are deserted by me.
  18. That's brilliant. I hope it sticks Just in time for the 1/10 *ahem* thread mods
  19. A 99% probability matters little if you end up in the 1% cohort
  20. weird. I know, as it's the horses mouth, but UEFA's website can be pretty slow to update stuff I've noticed.
  21. I'll admit, the b-word @Marka Ragnos referred to was the 3rd one that appeared on the list in my mind
  22. They can't have been doing this lobbying thing right then
