  1. Easy win for arsenal tonight, they will cruise to a 3 nil lead then take the foot off the gas to conserve their energy for their next game away against man yoo. Hopefully there will be no "ole" football tonight
  2. Not sure about Potter to be honest, just because a manager follows Villa should not be a pre-requisite for the Villa managers job! I do think we need a manager with Premier League experience though, it's a tough gig
  3. It is strange that most of the media (bbc/sky etc) are all saying Gerrard should not be sacked, needs more time, only been 4 games etc. Has any of them watched us play?, has any of them any idea of the fact that this is just a continuation of last season? and out of the 3 games we won out of what is it now 13 league games 2 of those wins were against teams that went down... Whereas most football supporters both the Villa and of other teams clearly see that Gerrard is way out of his depth
  4. Re the atmosphere, I was in my usual seat in the upper Holte and the support was noisy to start with and the first half, but the second half there was a sense of impending realisation that we had played our "good half" and it was a matter of time before spam scored - the crowd were quieter in the second half. And yes there was booing.... One observation there was a mum and dad in the upper Holte K4 (near the back where we all stand) with two very young kids about 5 yo and 7yo......in my opinion that is no place for young kids at that age to be....but maybe I am an old fart and this is the new modern family friendly football... VTID
  5. Remember it well....plus a view of one of our unique floodlights !
  6. Arsenal's biggest ever win in the premier league era was 7 nil v Everton in 2005. There is every possibility that this record could be broken.....
  7. Easiest win for Arse all season I think, probably at least 5 nil.....before half time
  8. Man management at its worst bringing on the lad for his home debut with 3 mins to go and then being part of the team being boo'd off. Ings off at 70mins and then Archer on the the last 20, I am convinced Cam would have scored for us. He showed more movement in the spam penalty area in the 3 mins he was on then most of the villa team in the previous 87 mins
  9. The problem is that in big business and politics nobody puts their hands up and says sorry I made a mistake, so Purslow is not either. The owners should be saying to Purslow, fire your "pet" now or we will do it for you.
  10. I think several of us on here could do a better job than Gerrard
  11. Was at the game in my usual seat in the upper Holte with a mate whose first time at VP who loves footy said to me "West Ham wanted it more". We were shocking. Only one tiny positive for the future when Cam came on for his home debut he immediately was in the penalty area moving about pulling defenders around him creating gaps in their defence and confusion.....first time in the whole game any Villa player did that. I hope and pray that our new manager plays Archer he is such a good player
  12. If we wait until the break for the WC it will be (a) too late we will be so far adrift at the bottom of the league to survive relegation And (b) no new manager will want to join us because of (a) Gerrard has to go, never wanted him, he is a fraud
  13. Very similar to me about to leave from Newmarket at 0945 pick up a mate who has never been to VP before, get to Star City, park and walk to ground. Told him to bring a cabbage
  14. Win today (however unlikely that is) and we will be undefeated at home so far this season !
  15. For me all this talk of redesigning the club crest has the feeling of rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic at the moment
  16. Not the most well known/famous Villa fan to all of you lot on here, but my grandfather Ken Hope was head forester at Batsford Arboretum and it was him who introduced me at a very early age to the Villa Just discovered today looking at some old docs, a photo of him as captain of Aston Magna FC, with the fixture list dated1929 -30. Team colours? Guess....claret and blue Jersey and white shorts He was and still is a legend to me and I miss him
  17. When (if) the Villa win tomorrow we go above Liverpoo
  18. I park at Star City it's free, and then walk the 25 mins to the ground, nice to stretch my legs after the 2 hr drive from Newmarket!
  19. Yep if that's true then we are truely in the mire...this sort of stuff never seems to happen to other clubs star players
  20. If Gerrard is party to, or encouraging Acher to be sold, then I will never forgive Gerrard even if villa win on Sunday I will be calling for the sacking of Gerrard. Shocking to even hear unsubstantiated rumours of Archer potentially being sold ....why would we want to do that? I cannot think of one reason to sell such a young talented player
  21. It looks fantastic, unique and retains the "Victorian" style of Villa Park .........unlike the soulless bowls that are called football stadiums these days
  22. At full time on Sunday these Wet Spam fans will be giving 10 out of 10 for all their players listed above and Moyes will continue to be their messiah
  23. If that was the rule in the 1975 LC Final, Ray Graydon would not have been able to score our winning goal V Norwich I remember it well !
  24. If we lose then watch out for a run on cabbages
  25. We are on the telly box tonight?.......we will lose...ops sorry wrong thread
