    Gidman -poorly

I used to have a bit of a crush on him when I was at school! I daren't say he used to be my heartthrob though Hope he gets will soon.
  2. Yeah, but I believe that they have a supporters coach from Devon to Villa every home game ? If so, a bit of a nap on the coach, listen to Ipod - what's not to like?
  3. and of course all players and teams end their bad runs against us
  4. I'm planning to leave Brum sometime in the next ten years , torn between Devon (I have one of my best friends living in Torbay), Worcester area - near family or Merseyside - no reason other than I love the Isle of Man and, apart from actually moving there itself, it's next best - 2 and a half hour quick sea trip on the catamaran from Liverpool for the odd weekend! PLUS you seem to get more for your money up there and I don't have much of that!
  5. Don't like FInal Countdown or Eye of the Tiger. Stick with Paranoid (or maybe Marillion, Assassing intro to that is great)
  6. I think we need to start playing set tunes from about 15/10 mins before kick off - this could then include Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie (not that I like that but I accept it is iconic to villa fans - I preferred Don't let it Die by Hurricane Smith personally) , then some other great Villa inspired tune and finally, walk out again to Paranoid. Really liked that, can't understand why it changed. However, as for it all being too loud, we can't hardly hear it in the Witton Upper!!! AND whilst we're at it, what's that awful row (cos can't make anything out in Witton Upper) that always seems to be played about 15 /20 mins or so before KO? Need to get music sorted for rest of season.
  7. This, again, another nail in the coffin. Villa will always now I fear just be a feeder club for the Sky Six.
  8. Yep, agree with that Guardian comment. This just puts another nail in the coffin for me - I'm getting pretty hacked off with the whole thing really. Villa will never, ever again win the league. Sky and the Premier League have indeed ruined football. To be fair to him Tom Ross always said that Sky would ruin football - he was right.

    This Too Shall Pass

said Bob Dylan. When I was little my Gran told me this one "Love Many, Trust a Few - Always Paddle Your Own Canoe"
  10. Sorry, I've already thought about this and there's no way I will be able to stop myself - I nearly cried at the Everton game ! Maybe I will have to try taking some Rescue Remedy before the game!
  11. Still like the Benteke One (see above) - anyone?
  12. Thanks I will have a look and see if that resolves it.
  13. OK I presume this is the correct thread rather than start another. Can anyone tell me why when I compile playlists on my ITunes that it seems to automatically sort them into Alphabetical Order by track title? In some ways, I think this is quite quirky as it gives a good random order - but sometimes, I really really want one specific tune to follow another so I am putting a random letter in front so that it follow the one I want- however that then affects the title in the main library too - not just on the playlist? I am guessing that there is some way I can stop it sorting in this way, I've had a look but can't seem to find anything? Anyone know? Thanks
  14. I've got a sneaky feeling we might get something out of this game - maybe a point. Mind you last time I was positive and thought that, we got thrashed 8-0 at Chelsea. We need another freak result to go our way aka Liverpool away - maybe Merseyside will do it for us again? I'll keep taking the tablets in the meantime!
  15. If we sell Bent to Stoke (or any other team we have yet to play again this season) we should insist on a clause that he can't play against us - cos you can just write the script that he will score the goals against us that might be the final nail in our coffin
  16. Spot on Richard. He has clearly lost interest for one reason or another

    Relegation

and V & L and Richard sum up my feelings. Except, I think that it's all gone too sour now with Lambert , maybe he should stay but I just don't have the confidence in him any more - he is just so dour in his interviews - you wonder how he motivates the players and he has been the Manager presiding over the most embarrassing series of incidents I can recall - we have set so many lows and historically bad records this season. How many times have we totally collapsed in second halves of games - so maybe a new manager too- Martinez maybe? I am just so angry about the state of our beloved club at present.
  18. Some real over aggressive policing at the end too! Trying to push up back away from trouble flaring betwen rival fans - but there was no-where to go! Quite scary - I sort of pushed may way through and shot down the stairs to the area at the back of th stand.
  19. Saw on H & V that someone had taken their lad to see Villa and he had starting singing (to the tune of Pussycat Dolls):- "Dontcha wish your striker was Ben-t-eke" Surely that's got to be better than "oooh Christian Benteke" which EVERY team sings about one of their players?
  20. Agree with this 100%. Can't understand how anyone can think it would be good for us to go down - they are presumably working on the assumption that we will come straight back up - but I don't think we would. We could be down for years. WBA the only West Mids team in the Prem, getting all that extra money - they will leap ahead of us. Worst possible year to go down - so I bet we will :-(
  21. We really need to ramp up the pre-match atmosphere at VP - particularly at this game. We have the worst pre-match build up of any ground I've been to - pathetic. All we do is show the stupid Snickers advert over and over (last season it was Pot Noodle) - what's happened to Paranoid when we come out too? I've still got my flags from Blackburn home semi and one from UEFA Cup against CSKA Moscow with a date of 18.02.09 on it (how we have fallen since then)
  22. I saw this on another forum - I'm not sure where it came from so apologies for not posting links/sources but it is apparently an interview with Martin Laursen and our predicament (can't see it posted anywhere on VT) Quote Our next game is a big derby with West Brom - and the thing that stands out for me is the fact that this is the perfect game to start our revival. It would send out the right signals in the fight to stay up if they can win the derby. I believe this strongly. It would be absolutely perfect to change the situation. Albion are doing well but this is the ideal game to start all over again and begin that fightback. I really enjoyed the big derby games. We did well against West Brom in my era. We had a good record. I remember the 2-1 win from 2008 when Gabby Agbonlahor and John Carew scored. It's great to win these matches. It's always three points for the club, the team and the players, but we know it means more for the fans. You can tell because of the atmosphere, it's more intense and special. You have to embrace that atmosphere in the derby, that's key. Our players on Saturday must not feel anxious and the pressure from the crowd. They must think about what the manager has said, what they need to do individually and just go out there and run their socks off and work their socks off. They must remember they need the three points for the table. It's such an important game. I will be following the game, no doubt. People outside Villa will see me as a former player and nothing more. But I can assure you, I am a fan of this football club. I spent five of the happiest years of my career in claret and blue and I still live and breathe the club now. So our struggles over the past few weeks have really hit me hard. I hate it when we're not winning games. At the moment I really feel sorry for the boys and for everyone around the club. I shout at the television screen, I scream - not as loudly as a Holte Ender, of course! But I get irritated when we lose and delighted when we win. I hope I'm delighted on Saturday night! After the Baggies match, it's the big Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Bradford City. Villa can still get through, of course, despite the two-goal deficit. It's still very possible. We need to win the battles all over the pitch. Every player must win their individual battle. Against these teams, you need to win the battle first and then you can show your Premier League class. We must be stronger all over the pitch on Tuesday. A good start - one or two goals in the first half - would be fantastic. That would get the fans onside and get Villa Park rocking. Playing a fantastic game and getting to a final would create a good atmosphere at the club too and lift the young players. It will give them confidence, which can push them on with the league programme too. Trust me, playing in a final is a massive, massive thing! I read the comments of the manager last week that he wants a strong, physical defender in the transfer window. I agree with him. I think a solid defensive addition could make a massive difference! I know I'll never play again. But when I heard the manager's comments, it really made me want to lace up my boots again. That's for sure. I'd give anything to be out there playing for Villa again and helping them. But I cannot do that. I can think about it. I have drifted back in time before. Unfortunately know it won't happen. The manager is astute. He's a proper football man and knows how things are and how things work. Ron Vlaar has been a big miss for the team. I rate Ron highly. He's a top-quality defender. He's a big player and he's been a big miss. He's a solid defender and he has experience too. He has been in the Dutch national team and that's a quality side. He's strong, powerful and quick - those are the attributes you need in the Premier League, especially power, which he has in abundance. He brings that physicality to things. He has a good character too. He's a good lad in and around the training ground. I hear he trains very hard too. He's clearly a top professional. The more people you can have like that around your football club, the better. But we must also not put too much pressure on his shoulders either. It's his first season in the Premier League and he's also been named team skipper. It's not an easy transition in your first year of English top-flight football. That's why I would like to see another strong, solid, powerful player in the ranks, alongside the likes of Ron, Ciaran, Nathan and Chris. I have confidence the manager will get the right man!
  23. Villa and Loyal - I presume your statement about silly comments about refunds is directed at me? I have never commented like that berfore and of course I don't expect a refund. It was a kneejerk reaction borne of a feeling that the players couldn't care less. I know you blokes think nothing of being short with and arguing with each other but us women take it to heart! I don't thnk I need to "give my head a wobble" it was a genuine emotion. I've been to every away game except two so I've seen plenty of inept performances this season (including Chelsea) but I'm just getting fed up of us becoming a laughing stock. Now I shall just slink off and cry that you think I'm stupid !
  24. I'm just disgusted. I wasted half a day's precious holiday from work , plus ticket and petrol , getting home at nearly 1.00 a.m. for that! We should all be refunded our costs - out of the players' own pockets. For me, every one of them was absolutely useless - except Andi Weimann who at least put the ball in the net. Can't see us turning it round at home. Oh well, at least I won't need to fork out more money that I can't afford only to be embarrasssed again at Wembley. Sick of being a laughing stock in the national media. Second leg also live on Sky
