  1. Finally, some sort of hint of news about the work we're doing in our hospitality areas. In terms of development work from what I can gather, it'll be the most work done on Villa Park since the Trinity Road Stand was built. An extra 1,500 hospitality seats will make a difference to our revenues.
  2. A couple more bus lanes, more parking restrictions on key routes and better enforcement of existing parking regulations would probably do the trick.
  3. Villa Park isn't actually all that far from the city centre - many of the benefits you'd get from moving nearer could still be achieved on the current site.
  4. Thankfully we know that the Premier league's biggest clubs are so concerned about the load on their players that they'd never, ever, agree to an extra game or a lot of long distance travel being added to the season. Why, that would make the decision to do away with replays in the worlds oldest cup competition seem like nothing but the greed of a bunch of one eyed hypocrites. I think we can safely put this one to bed right? Right?
  5. I think Chelsea would say thank you very much and laugh all the way back to Stamford Bridge - their bad season would still be bad and they'd have a clean sheet going forward.
  6. That would be shocking by the way - it would be a nothing penalty - taking Chelsea's bad season and making it worse but not catastrophic (they'd still be safe from relegation) whilst leaving them with a clean sheet for next season when presumably they'll be a little bit better. They'd lose maybe £14m for the league placings, but other than that it would just be a punishment for display - there's no real sporting sanction. If Chelsea are breaking any rules on financial fair play and require a punishment, it should come at the beginning of next season - for me, all FFP punishments should be sorted in the pre-season.
  7. With the donors on both sides of the Atlantic now sated, I wonder if we'll start to see political moves toward an end to this conflict. The commitment to military spending in the UK and the extra spedning in the US might be good for Ukraine in more ways than just getting more weapons.
  8. They're getting there - next years final could be Man Utd against Valencia though - they really should be looking at 60k plus for all of their finals.
  9. This has the look of a game where Arsenal batter someone, should score five or six and concede a late equaliser in a 1--1 draw. They may regret not putting this to bed early.
  10. Even a yellow for that Jackson tackle would have resulted in a two game ban for him. Lucky boy.
  11. I'm liking Bodega - they have a sort of early REM feel about them - I've no idea how 'new' they are, but I started hearing them this year, so I'm counting them.
  12. i think that's a UEFA thinking problem. I think they invented this competition to give smaller teams a chance of success in Europe and picked the stadiums for finals to match that idea - the problem is that beyond the 'giants' of the Champions league there are a large number of really good clubs with massive histories that have been slightly marginalised because of Champions league and TV money - those teams don't have 10,000 fans who want to go to a final, they have 80,000 - and I think once UEFA realise the actual nature of the competition they created, they'll start looking at the same quality of stadium they use for their other finals.
  13. There's an informal meeting tomorrow - it's not clear at the moment if that's with a focus on season ticket prices, but I'm sure they'll be discussed.
  14. To get the control he gets here, Unai would need to replace both Tuchel and Rummenigge at Bayern. I think people underestimate the degree to which we've given him the keys to the castle.
  15. Reported as £40m over two years - which I suspect is more than we currently get for all three of our kit properties - the manufacturer, the main sponsor and the sleeve - combined. It's a step up.
  16. We'll all be talking about the big fine they get too. I suppose no one's house has burned down yet, so that's progress I guess.
  17. I can understand their frustration, they've had a lot of decisions go against them this season, but I'm not sure what the tweet achieves.
  18. He was colossal today. It must be like defending against a terminator - his energy, the work he puts in is just phenomenal, he was winning balls in the 93rd minute today that he had no right to be getting at and he played 120 minutes just a couple of days ago, he just keeps coming at you, he's relentless. His pace, his strength, his willingness and desire and his ability to translate that into great hold up play, goalscoring and assists is unreal. Today was as complete a display of centre forward play as you will ever see, missing only the goal he very richly deserved. Big games at crucial times of the season need big characters and strong men and when you need him to, he steps up.
  19. Thank you - the "if" was because I couldn't recall, but there did seem to be a lot of people saying it.
  20. If the first yellow for time wasting happened while the ball was in open play, we should be appealing tha one - it's factually, demonstrably an incorrect application of the rules.
  21. Another Red Bull win incoming. I wonder how much what happened in Australia will end up being in their minds, they had a genuine chance this season for Max to take every pole position and then win every race, it's only that DNF that's against him.
  22. Can we get a count of how many nations Israel has bombed since October 7th?
  23. I wonder how much we currently make on a Euro matchday - I'd guess around a million in ticket sales (with the very reasonable prices), some hospitality, the catering money, programmes and so on - maybe £1.25m. So an additional £8.5m this season?
  24. Garcia had agreed to pay Haney $500k for every pound he was overweight - that's $1.5m down the drain.
