  1. Konsa for me. Lost his sidekick in the first game, and then not only has he had to play with multiple CB partners, he’s had to step up and become the true leader in the back line. He’s also filled in admirably at right back, so much so that he looks a natural there too, which is a difficult thing to do. I can’t think of a bad game from him, always an 8/10 minimum. He’s also got an England call up on top of that, which considering the man in charge, is probably the biggest achievement of all….
  2. My FFP knowledge is not the greatest, however am I right in saying that selling Tim with a buyback won’t have the same positive financial implications as the JPB/Ramsey/Archer/Chuk/Grealish deals? I thought that they were classed as pure profit for the books as they were our home grown academy players, but we signed Tim from WBA?
  3. He’s fallen to pieces over the last few weeks, every error they make seems to be his doing, and a horrible penalty to top it off tonight.
  4. That’s because they play on the half turn, and his shoulders are half a yard wider then most peoples
  5. Talking of similarities, what about the round badge?? Someone get onto Heck and tell him to pull the plug on next seasons badge ASAP. It might be absolute rubbish, but we have to stick with this one now. Going back to shields or gas lamps now would be like Samson cutting off his hair.
  6. I think there is a method in the madness when starting him away from home. If the opposition press is intense and is not letting us play out from the back, then Zaniolos size gives our defenders and keeper an alternative out ball to Watkins when we are under cosh, and his physicality makes them more of a 50:50 than other players would. I can think of a few examples where the ball just gets lumped to him to ease pressure. Once Unai realises the press is either a) not effective or b) tiring, that’s when he introduces Bailey/Diaby/Ramsey and opens up the spaces. I think he is doing a job for the team and manager.
  7. He was already on a yellow at that point, maybe that was on his mind? Commit at that point and run the risk of a second yellow and a penalty, or hope Solanke doesn’t get his shot away properly. Probably playing the percentages.
  8. I’ve missed that cheeky little ball from a CM inside the opposition full back, for Moreno to go around the outside and get into an unopposed crossing position. His runs are almost always perfect.
  9. He may be my player of the season so far. Other are taking all of the plaudits goal and assist wise, but this man turns up game after game and is delivering consistent 8/10 performances for 90 minutes twice a week with no real option to rest him. I don’t feel concerned when teams attack him, and when that ball lands at his feet in the final third on the left hand side, you know something good is about to happen…… Definitely earning his wages at the moment
  10. This is similar to how I see it as well. Over the last few years Mings/Konsa get the ball, and a midfielder (Dougie, SJM) drops in almost along side them to take possession. That midfielder then turns and has 60 yards of space and 8-9 opposition outfield players to try and pick a pass through, and the ball gets lost more often than not. Torres’ passing ability allows the midfielders to start 20 yards further up the pitch, turn into 40 yards of space, and bypass 3-4 opposition outfield players at the same time. A few clever runs from the front 3, and we are suddenly pulling teams all over the place. I think that the risk v reward when it comes to Pau is one that’s definitely worth taking.
  11. Yes, with Emery in charge. I reckon the MON team would have made top 4 under Emery as well, but this current team would be nowhere near top 4 under MON. No slight meant on MON at all as I love him to bits, but Emery is a completely different class of manager.

    Ezri Konsa

He seems to cruise through games now, but always seems to be in right place at the right time when needed. I don’t think there are many better in the league when it comes to winning 60:40 balls in favour of the attacker. Get that Portuguese passport sorted Ezri, and go and play for a nation that will appreciate you.
  13. Number 1- I’d change the offside debacle at the moment and make it so it is only offside if there is clear daylight between attacker and defender. My main reason for this is that with VAR and the granular technology involved, top level football is moving away from the game kids play in the park, or fat lads play on a Sunday, and is almost becoming a different sport. This rule can be applied at all levels fairly, with or without VAR, and should lead to more entertainment. Number 2- Make all domestic and continental cup competitions a straight, unseeded, knockout competition. I don’t get why past performance or size of league should give any team an advantage/disadvantage. The league winners don’t start the following season with a points advantage, everything reverts to zero. Why should they get an advantage in the following seasons cup competitions? You mess up, and you’re out of the tournament, simple.
  14. I downloaded it a couple of nights ago as it’s free on PS Plus this month. It’s quite good fun but feels a bit like a Poundland GTA game.
  15. If he keeps going at this rate he could easily become top 3 in the all-time Scottish International goal scorers list. Law and Dalglish are on 30 which might be a stretch, but in 3rd is Hughie Gallagher on 23, which is more than achievable.
  16. I’ve recently bought a PS5, and me and the wife have enjoyed playing a couple of local co-op puzzle-type games together (It Takes Two & A Way Out). We are now on the look out for our next game, but I’m struggling to find anything else that’s similar. Do any of you have any recommendations please? Cheers!
  17. They have to play each other I think.
  18. Plus, he did it wearing what are basically gardening gloves.
  19. Luc Nilis- (for reasons outside his control) Guy Whittingham Alan Thompson
  20. Definitely Coldplay. How a substitute Geography teacher has managed to make millions sitting in front of piano and churning essentially the same song out for the last 20 years is one of lifes mysteries. No imagination, dire lyrics, and to top it all off he is apparently teetotal and a vegetarian. At least throw a TV out of the window or summit!!
  21. There are no brown paper bags full of cash for FIFA if we win it though, which is why I think it will never happen in my lifetime. England could host a World Cup tomorrow if it wanted to. There are easily 10-12 stadiums in England alone that would maybe need a lick of paint at the most, and the transport infrastructure, although unreliable, is already in place. You can add the Millennium Stadium, Ibrox, Celtic Park, and Hampden to that if we fancied a UK bid as well. Qatar are building a World Cup from scratch. 5 brand new stadiums, the other 3 being upgraded, and planned second terminal at Doha Airport give FIFA multiple opportunities to negotiate many lucrative backhanders..Part of me hopes this is just the last breaths of the Blatter legacy, but I'm not so sure.
  22. Not sure if it really counts as an injury, but the one that always sticks with me was Fabrice Muamba having to stop playing at 24. Another one is Adrian Doherty. He was supposed to be the best of United's 'class of 92', but suffered a career ending cruciate injury just before he was due to make his debut. He then moved to Amsterdam with work, and died after slipping and falling into a canal at 26. There is a book about him called 'Forever Young' .
  23. No more Under Armour then.......
  24. It was Full Throttle on the PC for me. Some of the puzzles in it were so inconsistent, and I refused help from anyone else. It took me weeks.......
  25. Jocelyn Angloma, under rated fullback, and probably should have played for a bigger club during his career.
