  1. I wonder if we're going to get linked with Dale Stephens again.....
  2. I know yeah! If you look at chances created as well 6 out of the 7 are classed as 'key passes'. I guess some of those 'long balls' have got to find their man sooner or later. They're probably all aimed towards Andy Carroll anyway and he's fairly good in the air.....

    Joe Bennett

Hope he never pulls on a claret and blue shirt again (unless it's for West Ham or Burnley....).
  4. But Yorke wasn't Villa through and through.... He didn't have his heart in the club... He showed his colours and they weren't claret and blue by a long shot... He left us for United then went on to sign for the Blues... Gabby is a true Villa legend. He grew up supporting Villa unlike Yorke and has proven that he is the biggest local hero since the early 80s. Also, I don't think he would ever sign for the scum. Two goals today as well! Might not be the best player but he does wear his heart on his sleeve.
  5. Lowton MOTM for me, even though Benteke got the hat trick! But it was a brilliant team performance. Well done to them all!!!
  6. Shit player. Wouldn't shed a tear if he left the club tomorrow. He was a good reserve captain but he's an awful first team player. Get rid now.
  7. **** off Screech, **** off Everton and **** off Lerner.
  8. One of my closest friends is a huge Spurs fan and has been recommending us to get some of their youngsters in on either on loan or permanently for a very long time now. When I asked him who Dawkins was he didn't have a clue and when I told him he played for Spurs, he thought about it and eventually remembered him.... thought they got rid of him a long time ago because he was crap. Shows how highly he must be rated down there if their fans don't remember him.
  9. Rubbish. Gutless. An absolute travesty. Time for Randy to think about selling up and handing over to someone who is willing to put some investment into the playing squad. However, by the time that happens it will be too little too late so all we can do is "go again" and lose on Tuesday.
  10. When we lost the League Cup final against United in 2010, I believe that was the start of our decline in becoming a bottom 3 Premier League team. I really hope going out to a 4th tier team in the same competition almost 3 years later doesn't mark the start of us getting relegated and becoming trapped in the Championship. In my mind, this season is a total write-off unless we invest in players before the transfer window is slammed shut. I fear that any confidence we had earlier in the season will not be returning now, after this awful defeat.
  11. Releasing Cuellar was a big mistake in my opinion as he could have played as CB or backup RB, and would have strengthened the defence quite a lot with his experience, allowing someone like Lichaj to play LB in place of Warnock.
  12. The club have finally come out and made a statement about the fact that they are in the process of embarking on an interview process. That to me is very good news, although it doesn't confirm anything of course. But this is reminiscent of when the club used to put out statements just before a transfer was concluded to say that they were in talks with someone and then a few hours or sometimes days later you'd see that they had signed. I predict that there'll be a press conference scheduled for Monday afternoon with a statement on Monday morning to say that he's our new manager.
  13. Lichaj played very well considering his lack of experience, especially at left back. The MOTD highlights were quite unfavourable to us and ignored all the good work he, Collins and Baker did at the back yesterday. On the evidence of what I've seen so far from him, he is a much better proposition at right back than Hutton and I would also start him ahead of Warnock if the chance was there. He seems quite comfortable in both positions... didn't he play left back for the USA as well as for Leeds? Shame we don't have two of him, he would solve our full back problems
  14. With that line up, I wouldn't be surprised if there were goals galore tonight.
  15. From Andreas Weimann's facebook page: "back training with the team tomorrow !!!" Good news, another player coming back from injury.
  16. Sorry to resurrect this thread but I've got some interesting updates for everyone. His last two facebook status updates were: "fukin operation next week and out for 6 months !!! :S" and "tomorrow surgery !! :S" So it looks like he's out for up to 6 months. Quite a blow for the young lad. Hope he can return soon, because he could be one for the future. Finally, he posted a link to an interview he did for an Austrian website. http://forum.sportnet.at/blog.php?b=1872 Here's the google translated version of it:
  17. I'm glad most people here have realised that Warnock is actually shit. I knew we should never have bought him. He's a useless piece of shit, not worth his transfer fee at all. We should have sold him, kept Shorey as backup to play in Europe (where he was pretty good) and bought a proper LB that can attack and defend rather than be invisible for most of the game and then occasionally fall over now and again.
  18. Hi General, Sorry for bothering you once again but I posted something a couple of weeks ago that I think may have been missed in the time you were off the forum for a brief period of time. I've reposted it below, any help is appreciated! ----------- Hi General, Hope you had a good break and you are now fully refreshed in time for the new season! I am part of the Birmingham Eid Mela organising committee for this year - the Eid Mela if you haven't heard of it before is one of the largest annual multicultural festivals in Birmingham, organised in partnership with Birmingham City Council and local organisations and is this year being held in Cannon Hill Park on Sunday 26th September. The committee have asked me to establish if there was any way the club would allow some of the players / backroom staff to record some goodwill messages in support of the event to be shown online and at various promotional events. If this is possible, who would I need to go through to make it happen? I have been through Duncan Riddle previously about another matter and also raised this but didn't get an answer back, so not sure if he is the right person to ask! You are more than welcome to attend as our guest, should you be in the country and available to attend!

  20. Bolton and Wigan both had the same sponsor last season (188 Bet).
  21. 8 - Very happy with the business that has been conducted over the last few months. Started off extremely slowly but picked up a lot, which was good to see. Most pleased with the signings of Milner, Friedel, Shorey and Cuellar. Luke Young, Sidwell and Guzan are very good acquisitions also - (not going to count Davies because he was already technically at the club). These guys will all add some bite and firepower to the squad, as well as bolstering the overall size of it as well. Think we have around 25/26 senior players now, although some of them currently either have long or short term injuries (shame that two LBs are going to be out for a few more months). We could do with a new striker in January, depending on our situation then. In the meantime I am happy with the Fonz to play backup to the others (I get the feeling Harewood may leave in January). I am glad that we managed to get rid of players that were no longer needed by the club, or guys that just didn't really want to play (i.e. Maloney).
