Eleven headless chickens would be able to offer more than we have tonight, especially in wide areas.....

I'd prefer to see Senderos and Baker back when they're both able to play... Clark is not good enough and Vlaar obviously has had his head turned.
  3. Balotelli really made a meal of the kick. Bloody idiot. Senderos shouldn't have done it, but I don't think it would have warranted a red card if it was seen.
  4. Personally, I haven't always been a fan of Gabby's performances in a Villa shirt - but fair play to him for getting his new contract. His impact on the team may have declined slightly over the years but he can still be an important player for us, as was the case against Hull with his finely taken goal. He's (arguably) reaching his peak years as a footballer, and he is the longest serving player in the squad. I think opposition players are still scared of his pace, and we know he's still got that. I think he will be a useful asset for us in the coming months at the very least. Oh yeah and without defending the fact he's on £50/60k a week, he is a British forward player, so wages will always get inflated to take that stuff into account. There are much worse players than him on higher wages as we've seen above.
  5. I like Kozak, he'll get us goals and is much more of a goal threat than Andi and Gabby are right now. If we played with a good AM who could create more chances for us, Libor could get a fair few goals this season.

Still time to get rid of Gabby in this window....
  7. Let's hope that other Colombian guy we had on our books a few years ago puts in a good word!!!!
  8. His mate Petrov has obviously engineered the move to Celtic!
  9. Ronseal - Does exactly what he says on the tin
  10. He's our captain (and a good one too), and most likely won't be captain anywhere else if he leaves. Maybe that's enough for him to stay? At least PL values him in that respect.
  11. Listen to that broad Dublin accent. His parents are irish so he qualifies through that. If you're gonna be a smart arse remember that England have capped players who haven't a single connection with England other than the fact that they lived and worked here. John Barnes and Tony Dorigo spring to mind, the latter was born and bred in Australia to Italian parents. My parents were Irish and I consider myself irish as well. There's a lot more to nationality than just where you were born. #claimtofame I played in the same team as Tony Dorigo's dad Now that was an experience, I can tell you. (still off topic) I built and maintained Tony's official website for about 6 years! Really cool guy.
  12. Does anyone know how many own goals he's scored in total?
  13. Just to annoy everyone - Baker Baker Baker Baker Baker Baker Baker Baker Baker Baker Baker We'd win the Conference with that team!
  14. Petrov's goal v Derby was better than Rooney's (half volley with weaker foot) and it didn't bounce before entering the net. Rooney's was like a bloody goal kick that went into the net.

    Joe Bennett

If Bertrand isn't going to stay with us, we'll be risking of having another Kyle Walker in our squad who will go back to his parent club and become a regular starter. Not sure this is actually the case here, but the big question is not if we can stump up the cash to buy him, but if we can pay his wages, which will probably be more than a lot of our first team are getting right now. Best option is to ship out Luna (who has been dreadful despite his promising start), buy Bertrand and keep Bennett on as a decent backup.
  16. Is Grant Holt "phat" or "fat"? There's only one way to find out.............
  17. The Theatre of Screams.
  18. I'm not Holt's biggest fan and I didn't really want him here but we've got him now so let's try and support the guy. It's not his fault we were ineffective in front of goal today. Lambert's plan was to park the bus for 90 minutes, which obviously resulted in very few balls going forward, therefore less opportunities for our forwards to attack. Don't think Holt should have started, the easiest thing to do was just to stick with the team that got us the win against WBA. Just shows how much we miss Gabby right now.
  19. When you park the bus for 90 minutes and play for a draw, then there's no doubt that a very tough game is to be expected, and when you take off our captain and best defender for a winger hoping to salvage something from the game, then you might as well just forget it. Don't think Lambert had a plan B.
  20. Concrete Ron did the business today, could have easily capitulated after going two down so early! But credit to the team, we got back and held on and ultimately got the three points!
  21. We should arrange a pre-season friendly with those bastards and **** up one of their players (I don't actually mean that, I'm just livid after seeing the horror tackle.)
  22. Excellent performance from Gabby yesterday. Two brilliant assists and when he performs the way he did yesterday, he is virtually unplayable. We need more of those sorts of games from him in the latter half of the season if we are to cement a decent finish.
