I still think the squad is far from finished but It looks much better. We actually have a squad now where different players can be called upon at different times. I'd like to see one or two new faces in January still. I also think that whilst we have bought good players at reasonable prices, you shouldnt rule out the importance of a player worth 10m+. The best players still cost a lot of money no matter what league they play in and I think If Lambert finds one hungry enough to play for Villa, he will sign him. Thats the major difference from what we've had before. Lambert wont pay over the odds for a player that has to be pushed into coming to Villa. You've gotta wanna play for this team and give 110% every match to even get a look in. Our philosophy as a football club has changed dramatically in the last 12 months. **** knows why Mcleish was ever hired but thats in the past now. I really like the look of Lambert and I think he is the man to take this club forward. It will take time. Maybe even 2/3 years before we are pushing for Europe again.

What a performance! Lowton and Vlaar were superb. Holman did not stop running. My motm actually goes to Bent. I thought he was excellent all game.

I suspect he will be one of our better players again, as he has been in nearly every game for the past 12 months.

Im finding the whole thing quite hilarious. The film itself was piss poor and not really funny at all but the reaction has been great to watch. I dislike Islam with a passion and to watch these idiots shoot guns into the air and run around in towels is always great viewing.

As long as North America and Europe heat their homes in the winter and pump petrol into their vehicles, American armed forces are not leaving that area. A good point well made.

I watched the second half of the game tonight and I think he touched the ball about 4 times! That said, he looks very big and strong. My main concern is how he plays alongside Bent/Gabby. I still would have preferred a striker who drops off from time to time in the mould of a Tevez/Zarate but I suppose you need all types of strikers in a squad to compete. He will give us options and he certainly has time to improve.

I wonder what CI has to say to that.

Petrov wont play for Villa again, of that much I'm sure. Great servant to the club but his legs had started to go last season and I just cant see him regaining match fitness again. I hope he comes back in some capacity though, even if he just came out before a game like Laursen did a couple of years ago. The reception would be huge. Legend.

Thats our Summer complete then. Not the best. Not the worst. We will be fighting relegation again this year. Hopefully we can build on the squad in Jan and next summer.

Even if we sign Benteke and Westwood, It has been a poor window for us. Like people have mentioned, its not so much what we have done, but what clubs around us are doing. West Ham, Swansea, Stoke, Fulham, Everton, Southampton, QPR have all strengthened whilst we have bought rather young, unproven players. I like Lambert and I think he will do well here if he is given time but will we still be in this league next season? We have a very average squad of players here and I can honestly see us being relegated this season.

We'd have N'Daw straight away. And a handful of other shit players. I've never met anymore with a more warped view on anything.
