With Vlaar back, Id Play him in the middle with Baker/Clark with either Baker/Clark at left back. This Chav just aint good enough and have seen no promise in any aspect of his game. Every manager makes poor signings, I'm afraid this looks like one from Lambert.

Coutinho is such a class player. If we get him it would certainly be a coup. I still think we need two new defenders this window. Toby Alderweireld would be a great addition.

I usually post a line up I would like to see before every game in a match thread but I just don't know anymore. Nobody on here, let alone our manager knows our best players in their best positions and the best XI. It's a complete lottery.

Hopefully get a draw as I see no deals being done in time for new defenders in the line up. If we lose, In my opinion, we'll go down. You cant afford to have teams like Southampton doing the double over you and expect to stay up. Lambert really needs Vlaar and Dunne to get back from Injury asap.

I'd bring him back and stick him in. I don't rate him in the slightest but he has to go back in to that left back spot.

You may not see a poorer 45 minutes from a premier league left back all season than what Joe Bennett has just put in. Lichaj away at Southampton aside. You may also not see two premier league central midfielders in Delph and Bannan look so out of their depth against a league two side as we have tonight. Our front 4 are dangerous, we just don't have the quality to get it to them and get in behind them. Joe Bennett. We need to score tonight, not necessarily win, just score so we have that all important away goal.

Really? Look at the way Liverpool have done it this year, just thrown out their young players and reserve players to give them game time. By the end of the Summer I feel our squad will be a lot bigger and I actually think the Europa league could be a good way for us to see our younger players in action. We seem to be seeing this every saturday at the moment though so only if we have a larger, more experienced squad. We wont be in Europe next year though.

Whatever happens, Lambert will field his strongest team I feel for this one. If we can win this 2/3 nil, we can afford to rest a couple of players for the return leg if we're confident enough to do so. We have to go there and treat this as a massive game..because it is. I'd possibly rest Benteke and keep Bent in the team for this one but thats about it. We need a result up there.

100% Agree. Been saying this for some time. Villa simply cannot play a 4-4-2 because we dont have the personnel in the midfield to do so. 4-2-3-1 is by far our best formation. I'd love Bent and Benteke in the same team but I just cant see it working. Would be great to get N'Zogbia firing, would be like a new lease of life. Perhaps just telling him to do what he wants in that no.10 slot, no pressure. He is stronger and more dynamic than Ireland and Holman. I'm not his biggest fan but there is a player in there somewhere and he needs a chance just like Holman and Ireland have in there. For the Bradford game, I'd go with a front 4 of: --------------------Benteke----------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- Gabby-----------N'Zogbia-------------Weimann I'd love to see Weimann paired up top with Benteke as those two seem to have struck up a real partnership but this was when we were playing a 3-5-2 formation which clearly didnt work. He also scored 2 against UTD playing out there. For me, this is a decent enough forward line for now and certainly good enough to keep us up if the players are playing with confidence.

If Westwood is cup tied then I'd probably bring in Herd. I'm not the biggest fan of Delph.

Guzan Lowton Clark Baker Bennett Bannan Westwood Weimann N'Zogbia Gabby Benteke Is how i'd go. It's anyones guess what we will see though. Would love to see Gabby back in the side and N'Zogbia deserves that run in behind Benteke. A Last chance so to speak.
