  1. Transfers To Be ‏@TransfersToBe1h Another player rejoining a former club, Thomas Hitzlsperger is in talks with Aston Villa about rejoining the club in a coaching role #AVFC Might be another addition soon! Get some tasty long shot tuition!
  2. Also Transfers To Be ‏@TransfersToBe 1h Another player rejoining a former club, Thomas Hitzlsperger is in talks with Aston Villa about rejoining the club in a coaching role #AVFC Interesting even if bollocks
  3. Would defo take if motivated to join for the right reasons, could be an Arshavin waiting to happen though True although i think it a bit harsh to compare him to Arshavin (personality wise) just because they are both Russian and play n the same position. Hopefully he would be eager to prove himself in the Prem and secure himself a spot in Russia's WC squad.
  4. What about Dzagoev from CSKA Moscow. Exciting talent but has fallen off the radar a bit after staring for Russia in the Euro's
  5. In modern football players are playing until their later 30's. Barry may not be at his peak but he is far from 'past it' at 32.
  6. Whilst he might 'stifle' some of the young players by keeping one of them out of the first team he will equally improve there development. They will learn lots from his quality and experience at the training ground every day and will bring even more competition for the starting XI. ANd when the kids do eventually overtake him he would be a good steady head to bring on as a sub around the 70min mark to help actually defend a lead for once!
  7. I remember a while back that MM posted saying that Barry wanted to come back to villa at some point in his career. He also said he whilst it upset him that he understood the fans abuse of him and hoped it would change if he did come back. I'm all for it, he was an excellent servant of the club and played with passion. He might be getting on a bit but in modern football that's not a huge issue, especially considering he'll be surrounded by a team of youngster more than willing to do the running! His passing is excellent and he will be the much needed experience and steady head that is missing in the centre of the team. Bring him home Lambert!
  8. I think Marc will do a 'Peter Whittingham' on us. He won't quite make it at Villa, will join a championship side and set the league on fire. Like Peter, marc has a great delivery and will flourish at a lower level.
  9. I know he's young but i feel Gary Gardener has all the traits described. IF he stays injury free for a season or two he will develop into a class box to box midfielder. His technical ability is excellent as his work rate and reading of the game. I have been to quite a few of the next gen games (last season) and reserve games and its crazy how many time he just appears at the edge of the box unmarked waiting to score. His passing is good although could improve and his tackling and defensive work is impressive. On top of this the guy bloody loves football and aston villa. He plays with passion and enjoyment but also with a level head. Furthermore he is a leader (at least amongst the youngsters and reserves). Obviously i've hyped him up quite alot but that is because i truly believe he is 'that player' just waiting for the chance to set the Prem on fire!
  10. http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~3216082,00.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Good move by the club by putting acorns on the kids / junior shirts
  11. Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick17s Pleased to meteor: Antonia Luna joins Aston Villa from Sevilla on a 3-year deal #avfc
  12. Bannan is a very good technical player. His passing is good and he has the ability to create chances or hit a 'wonderball'. The problem is his decision making, he knows he can play these great passes and so tries to force them when they're not on and a simple pass would be much better. On top of this he does have an eye for goal, some of the goals he scored when on loan were amazing but he just failed to replicate this in the Prem although this may be down to nerves, especially after his long run without scoring. Furthermore his attitude has slipped; when he first came into the team he had the fans backing and we regarded him as another young, exciting prospect with a lot of potential. He played with positivity and seemed to be enjoying his football, especially playing alongside players like albrighton and other academy players. However after the M1 incident his head dropped and so did his form, a portion of fans got on his back and this tied with the negative style of football sought by Mcleish which didn't complement bannan's style of play. On top of this, I regularly go out at night to Birmingham and have run into bannan quite a few times, once i saw him out two nights in a row; this conveys an unprofessional attitude but also more a lack of passion and desire to play for and help Villa. When playing well bannan can be an excellent and exciting player to have. He provides positivity, creativity and a player willing to have the ball at his feet and work hard. Unfortunately I feel his time has run out with Villa, he has lost his passion to play for the shirt and in turn the majority of fans don't want him here (but that doesn't mean his is a bad player so to speak) I am confident that with a fresh start, at a club like Swansea that suits his style he will become a very competent PL player and wish him all the best as in a few very selective moments he was a joy to watch.
  13. My Grandad moved from Wales (where he'd only ever really paid attention to rugby) to live in Birmingham for a time. He was and still is a big sports fan and so decided to check out a few of the local teams. For a few years he would go to various matches and various teams before after a few years settling on Villa as he preferred the atmosphere and style of football. Years later he tried his best to get both his daughters interested in football and Villa and to some extent they are but not serious fans so to speak. When me and my brother cam along he vowed to make us villa fans and as soon as we had any concept of football or teams he whisked us away to a game and bought us villa kits. In this sense Villa to me has always held a greater significance than football as it is a link to my Grandad and to my family in general. Everytime i visit my Grandad we always discuss Villa, the team, transfers etc. I'm now 21 and i find it is me bringing him to games rather than the other way round which i take great joy in. Despite this my dad (who is a United fan) says it is his biggest regret that he allowed my Grandad to 'brainwash' us into being villa fans instead of united fans. Personally, i wouldn't have it any other way!
  14. great signing, this guy has got so much potential! I didn't realise how good his passing is, some quality balls during that Chelsea game. I guess that's what he was referring to when saying he wanted to offer the team something offensively.
  15. Great news. It's always nice to see a player showing some loyalty. I meet him in a club in Birmingham a few months back and he spoke with great passion about the villa, promising he'd do everything in his power to keep us safe from relegation. A promise i feel he fully kept.
  16. I would quite happily buy that. Clean, simple and classy.
  17. I hope his Belgian friend Courtois doesn't turn his head and convince him to join A Madrid. He said he was going to have a conversation with him when they were together on the national team and Benteke has already said how he'd like to play with more Belgians. Hopefully Benteke will inform him it's none of his business!
  18. played well today again. Him and delph made a good combo. not so much when Bannan came on. midfield got over run then

    Joe Bennett

He was alright today. Looked capable going forward in the first half and then solid enough in the 2nd half defensively. If you watched most of WBA attacks came down our right where they were having far more joy, especially as Lichaj was booked.
  20. Martin Laurence ‏@martinlaurence7 Sources at Inter have confirmed that Philippe Coutinho is staying at the club.
  21. Westwood and Bannan look good together, some nice crisp passing at time. benteke looking a handful once again, Gabby taking on defenders. Positive signs but it all counts for nothing if we cant stick the ball in the net which atm we haven't looked like doing. Worried about Lichaj getting sent off too
  22. Gutted for Luke Wright - stuck on 99 not out. Hit 4 back to back sixes. Top innings. Dominant display from England all round!

    Brad Guzan

Another solid performance today and once against proving he has the quality to be a good if not great PL goalkeeper. However i think the real test for Guzan is once this 'honeymoon' period is over, when he is dropped or makes a mistake. Will be important that he responds well and performs as well as we now know he can.
  24. cheers for all the responses about 24, really looking forward to watching them now!
