Oh and as for their turnover dwarfing ours, the accounts for 11/12 have us at 9th in the turnover table, Spuds at 6th. Spuds made a £7m loss, we made a loss of £18m.

Being as our wage bill has been dramatically reduced (which will be reduced by even more this season) and theirs has been dramatically increased (which will increase even more this season), I'd imagine the financial gap between us will be even smaller.

Unless either Adebayor budges or Bale is sold for a huge fee, I don't think Spuds will sign Benteke.

You can't turnover a loss.

I know, I referred to turnover based on what was said about the dwarf comment. The loss figures were to show that even if they turnover more than us, the difference between what is actually made in the end is only around £10m.

I know, I initially read it alternatively and the joke was too tempting to pass up.

At ease.

The part that interested me most though was hearing lambert already knows the man he wants to get with any CB money. sounds promising!

thats hardly news

uv got a cheek with all your previous ITK balls that turned out to be nonsense.

Now this page has lots of Claude's thanks to multi-quote.

Thanks Multi Quote.

We need a reply function, a simple 'x post is in reply to y post'.

But then we'd have one less Claude?

ok, so I have some benteke news, although not groundbreaking, we have had 2 bids from spuds, both rejected, and sopuds have been told we want the money UP FRONT. no increments. as lambert knows who he wants to replace CB and he wants it done quickly.

Rubbish - Most if not all deals are paid by installments. Anyone we buy to replace Benteke will probably be paid for in installments.

yes, obviously, but this is what villa have set. villa don't need to sell benteke to get his replacement, but they are just making a stand on spurs, I would guess that villa would take a lower bid than their valuation if the fee was paid up front. im passing on good solid information. don't hate.

I doubt there's ever, in the history of football, been a £20m+ deal paid up front. It's not going to start with Spurs

Not even Manchester City?

Not even City. It's not how it's done. Everything is in installments at that kind of money. I'd imagine even our summer signings are in installments tbh

Yep - what would be more feasible is if villa had said no add ons - ie spurs may have offered £18m + £4m if spurs get CL etc.

I have no idea if the deal will go through or not. But not many deals stall on the method of payment of the agreed fee.

It would really complicate things that. Even the interest accrued with those amounts would surely distort the fee?

AFAIK it's sorted in that the installments are agreed on, so say 3m up front, 5m in 6 months, 5 min in 12 months, 2m in 18 months for a £20m deal. The interest doesn't come into it so far as I understand (unless one of the installments is late, then I'd assume it'd come into it)

but it is promising as some managers dont ever look that far ahead. before when Yorke left or Barry we didnt have a replacement lined up straight away
