Far from impressed watching them and they're 2-0 up! All that stands out is they are all huge and foul every chance they get.

To get top 4 you need the top sides to have a season off. They've took advantage of Chelsea and Liverpool both being off, AND Spurs and Utd being below par.

Think we can beat them in a few weeks?

They've lost the joint fewest games in the league along with Arsenal and have conceded 7 fewer goals than any other side.  Those things give you every chance of making top 4 to be honest.

They're one in the same. If Liverpool were up with City like they have been the last 4 years, Newcastle wouldn't be 3rd. If Chelsea, Spurs, and Utd weren't all below par, they wouldn't be 4th.

Credit to them though, they've been the ones to take advantage.

Yeah the table doesn't lie. Newcastle fully deserve to be where they are. As much as I dislike some of their fans, I'd rather see a team like Newcastle up there than Chelsea.

Literally steam rolling over their opponents on a weekly basis at the minute. No let up really on their form, 3 defeats all season at this stage is absolutely nuts. I’m not even sure what it is they doing to be so effective, but they just will not be beaten..

They aren't, though.  It'd be different if Newcastle were sat there having lost 6 and conceded, say, the 4th most goals in the league.  Then you could say "yeah, they're taking advantage of the bad form of others here".  But the reality is that they're so defensively sound that they're up there completely on merit.

If they were better in attack, they'd be actively challenging for the title.  Far too many draws for them, though.

Definitely. If we get a ref that punishes their thugs for stopping some football from happening.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Sickening it probably would have been us if we had Unai all season.

Looking back over the last 10 seasons, par for the course for 4th place seems to be around 70 points.  Newcastle set to be on 53 with 10 games left (as long as they hold on).  That's 6 wins out of a final 10 games to be very much on par with a typical 4th place finish.

It isn't about others being bad, Newcastle have just been good.

Credit where credit is due. I might be in the minority, but I feel the Newcastle rivalry is a bit forced. I’d much rather them get top 4 than seeing Spurs or Liverpool qualify again.

It's nothing to do with rivalry it's about them being owned by an evil, murderous, extreme regime.

They wouldn't have that tally if four of the usual suspects were not below par. They'd have dropped points to them.

Good lesson for the team there with that third. They will press high, so be on your guard.

This feels bigger than just a below par season for those teams, we could be seeing a genuine shift in power.

  • Chelsea - Complete shambles of a club, owner hasn't a clue, going to get destroyed by FFP.
  • Liverpool - Wheels coming off for Klopp, aging spine, VVD is done, no midfield,  Salah will be off if they don't get CL.
  • Spurs - Too reliant on one player, Kane will be gone in Summer, manager merry go round, they're Spurs they've no right to be included in the elite anyway.

Us, along with Newcastle and possibly Brighton are in a good position to take advantage. The timing of us getting Emery is perfect.

They’re a bunch of bellends and refs let them get away with murder whilst protecting them for some reason.

Schar just ran into Ings, fell over and got a foul.
