I don't think his early season form was very good either. Those 2 penalties (one he missed first time) covered up some average performances in those early games as well. Benteke while playing badly still won plenty of headers and caused problems. Kozak showed great technique for that volley but offered nothing else. Kozak for all his size is absolutely terrible at flicking the ball on from long balls. However, Benteke is decent at it, which led to Kozaks shot. If Kozak could do the same to Benteke they would work as a decent partnership. I'd actually drop Benteke for a game or two. Caddy Posted November 25, 2013 Share Posted November 25, 2013 This spell is exactly why it was good for Benteke that he stayed at Villa Park. Look at all the slack that Soldado is getting right now and he's dangerously close to being dropped for the likes of Adebayor and Defoe. Benteke knows he's always gonna have a spot in the XI here. Of course, that runs the risk of him becoming complacent, but if there's one quality Benteke has always shown in droves, it's ambition, for better or worse. In the first half, he made some good situations for himself but he either got crowded out by 3 or 4 West Brom players or he made a good pass and the likes of Tonev then lost it. In the second half he was shit apart from the flick on to Weimann who should have played in Gabby. Still think he was rushed back and his injury was more serious than was let on.
