Christian Benteke

Early season form was brilliant.  It must be the injury he sustained, not giving up on the big shagger!

I don't think his early season form was very good either. Those 2 penalties (one he missed first time) covered up some average performances in those early games as well.

Kozak played better than him twice in a row now though.

If you say so.

Benteke is out of form but he still causes problems and we know what he can do.

I also think Kozak has looked the more likely to score of the two recently. Kozak was unlucky with that half volley.

Benteke plays a lot better with Gabby & Weimann. Benteke and Kozak just doesn't work. Kozak for all his size is absolutely terrible at flicking the ball on from long balls. However, Benteke is decent at it, which led to Kozaks shot. If Kozak could do the same to Benteke they would work as a decent partnership.

I'd actually drop Benteke for a game or two. Let him rest, get back to full fitness, gather his thoughts and come back raring to go.

This spell is exactly why it was good for Benteke that he stayed at Villa Park. Look at all the slack that Soldado is getting right now and he's dangerously close to being dropped for the likes of Adebayor and Defoe. Benteke knows he's always gonna have a spot in the XI here. Of course, that runs the risk of him becoming complacent, but if there's one quality Benteke has always shown in droves, it's ambition, for better or worse. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to mail it in.

Benteke just looks incredibly frustrated. In the first half, he made some good situations for himself but he either got crowded out by 3 or 4 West Brom players or he made a good pass and the likes of Tonev then lost it. In the second half he was shit apart from the flick on to Weimann who should have played in Gabby. Still think he was rushed back and his injury was more serious than was let on.

It doesn't excuse all those brainless off sides though.

Benteke be off side?? Never..........

It's been a problem even when he was scoring bucket loads last year, but the goals glossed over it too some extent.

It doesn't help that he has sod all supply, in fairness.

Yep, all the chances he had, he created them himself. Bacuna, had a pretty shit game in terms of his crossing and there really was no supply at all from the left side of the pitch.

He won quite a few headers but he's not 100% yet but that will come in time. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Did Bacuna actually hit one decent cross?
