Tap in specialist whos been having it easy in the SPL. no thanks

Is he? Honestly I have no idea what his play style is. He has some decent stats , but as you say thats in a one team league. If we do sell tekkers I am not sure we would be in for another forward. I can see Lambert spening big (for him) on a playmaker type instead.

Yes credit to Lambert for Benteke but the chances of him finding another player of that caliber on the cheap are very remote indeed, like Wenger has never found a new Henry.

not really a great comparison is it, Henry was a World Cup winner, playing for Juventus who were at time among Europes best 3 or 4 teams and went for a pretty big fee for English league

Well Ive seen him score nice goals but most times if I watch Celtic highlights his goals are tap ins

Cheers. Well it looks like QPR might be in for him, which makes more sense.

I still hope we're in for a proper number 10!

I think we are, but things are probably on hold whilst Lambert waits to see exactly how much he has got to spend on one.

I agree - i think before we'd have probably had 5-6m to spend on an AM. but if we sell Benteke i think we could have 10-12m to spend on one.

Who went on to be the best striker in the world. I say striker, he reinvented the position. Benteke is no Henry, never will be. If he's as good as Drogba was (lazy comparison I know) that'll be quite something. Something I'd trust our scouting network to have a bloody good bash at reproducing.

I think we go down if Benteke goes our signings are looking very mediocre compared to what the clubs around us are buying with their new sky money.

Sadly I agree with you at the moment. However, I trust Lambert to sign the quality number 10, and replacement for Benteke, that will hopefully make this season better than the last one.

Jesus guys, we don't know enough about them to write them off.

I htink we have to trust Lambert, and the second half of last season showed signs that Lambert can not only pick out a player or two, but also get them to play together.

Looking at a few players who could be possible AMC buys

Wahbi Khazri (Bastia, Ligue 1)

Seems to be very versatile, can play on either wing, in centre midfield, behind the striker and even made one or two appearances in defensive midfield this season. He chipped in with 7 goals and 8 assists in Ligue 1 this season. Likes a late run to the box for a shot and takes an alright freekick. He's 22 so would fit bang in line with our age requirements too. Transfermarkt has him valued at £3.5m

Has the same goals and assists as Montpelliers Remy Cabella in less games (Cabella however has better Pass % and Key Passes but he's just turned down a move to Arsenal to stay in France)

Yohan Mollo (Nancy, Ligue 1)

Mollo is much more of a winger, has a good cross on him though but he also made a lot of goal scoring chances last season, 81 and got 11 assists. He made a few appearances on both flanks, in midfield and upfront, so it could be feasible that he could be moved into the middle but to be honest thats not where his talent is and cant really see Mollo considering we already bought Tonev and have a lot of other players for his best position, shame though.

Abdel Barrada (Getafe, La Liga)

Barrada created more chances last season than Khazri but wasn't rewarded with as many assits as him, getting 4 goals and 6 assists. However this is still 3 more assists than Younes Belhanda managed last season, who unfortunately he shares an Agent with. At 24 he's pushing the boundary of the age range Lambert seems to be signing players in so should be fine in that regard.

knowing Lambert, it will most likely be somebody well off the radar :D

Seriously though, with extra cash to play with, don't rule out a more established player(s), since we should be able to pay the wages. As long as the attitude is right and they suit the way we play, then im pretty sure Lambert will do that.

Really don't think we need another midfielder at the club.

Sylla is fairly new to the fold, and we've already signed a couple of midfielders in Bacuna and Tonev (who I know is more of a winger). No one really wants to see Westwood or Delph replaced, and Helenius has the ability to play the 2nd striker role if we bring in a new number 9. Added to that, we still have NZogbia who I thought was pretty decent last year, and potentially Gardner.

I disagree - I believe we desperately need a central Attacking midfielder. A true no.10 who specialises in that role.

First of all we need more goals from the midfield which this new player needs to be able to do

and second he can provide numerous assists, threading balls through to Weimann/Gabby with ease, or whip in a few high crosses for Helenius/(insert other tall striker).

Who would you replace from our midfield? Or what would your preferred pairing be?

Baring in mind that our defense is pretty weak, and as good as he is, Westwood is pretty lightweight, I don't think we can afford the luxury of a number 10. Our form from last season after Sylla came into the team supports this pretty strongly.
