The_Rev
Dundee United are the only team in the world who have a 100% winning record against Barcelona over more than one match. They have played 4 and won 4 against the Catalans. Liverpool have a 100% winning record over Real Madrid and they have never conceded a goal against them either. P3 W3 F6 A0. Again, they are the only club in world football who have played Madrid more than once to have a 100% record.
BOF Posted January 2, 2014 Moderator Share Posted January 2, 2014 Amount of sides who got more points away from home than at home by season.06/07 - 007/08 - 008/09 - 4. Chelsea, Everton, Aston Villa, Hull City.09/10 - 010/11 - 011/12 - 3. WBA, Bolton, Wolves.12/13 - 1. Aston VillaAs for the 13/14 table. That stat is particularly misleading midway through a season because by definition you've got the entire league to play again once. And teams can have lopsided schedules, like Liverpool for example, whose away schedule to date happens to have consisted of all the top sides except for Man Utd. In theory giving them an easier 2014. But for informational purposes the 2013/14 total currently stands at 4 teams (Tot, MU, AVFC, Swansea).
dont_do_it_doug.
In which case there is a trend of sorts developing regarding Aston Villa FC. I'd be interested to know whether in those recent years where we gained more points at home what the difference between home/away points gained was compared to other sides, if you catch my drift. Are we consistently abnormal in that regard? Above all, why? Is it purely down to playing style? I don't think out home support is too bad. Nothing special, but if anything it has gotten better over the years thanks to opening up the north stand lower to home support. Edited January 2, 2014 by dont_do_it_doug. The_Rev
I think it's cyclical. Under O'Leary and GT mk 2, didn't we go about 491 games without winning away?
Rovers13
A lot of studies have said that home advantage is largely down to other factors besides crowd noise, though it probably plays a part.

The_Rev
Speaking of prolific goalscorers: Asamoah Gyan, former Sunderland striker and friend of Luis Suarez. Remember he left to join a club in Abu Dhabi a couple of years ago because they offered him something like £7.5m a year after tax? Turns out he is doing what they ask of him over there, 71 goals in 60 games so far. Too good to be playing in the Gulf league? Absolutely, Do you think he cares? Not at all.

Popular Post The_Rev
Mikael Forssell (remember him?) has five assists this season. Why is this interesting? All five are backheels.

Qwpzxjor1
https://twitter.com/ManUtd Manchester United have relaunched their Twitter account. They currently have 68,837 followers and the account has been active for less than one hour. Be interesting to see where it is in a few months. 6 months later. 1,706,337. If they had kept up the same rate of 68,837 per hour they would currently have 301,506,060. Moyes out?
