VillaChris
I'm no fan but he needs to get himself fit as there's a chance for him with Luna struggling on a regular basis now.
dudevillaisnice
On the showing so far neither Luna or Bennett are the answers, did Lambert spend around £5m on both? Can't say they are an upgrade from Lichaj who I think we released but he imo is better than these two.
Brumstopdogs
Defensively he's a 4/10 player - but an upgrade on Luna who is about 2/10!
R.I.C.O.
Both Joe Bennett and Antonio Luna will be in the "bomb squad" of whoever takes over next. Laughably awful signings by our pisspoor manager.
Big_John_10
Said it another thread. 4 fullbacks signed and they all need replacing.
KSV
Lichaj was better than both. That kid we released probably would have been a better prospect too. Williams is it? was a left back or right back?
LockStockVilla
I definitely think that Joe Bennett steadily improved as last season went on and was putting in consistently good performances at the back end of the season. Postionally, he is better than Luna and he has a half decent cross on him. Hopefully back in the squad soon pushing for a spot.
Harry
Pick Bennett when he is fit. Cannot do worse than Luna who is nearly as far out of his depth as Lambert.
Shaw_nuff
Can't believe I am asking "where is Bennett"? In San Francisco Apparently. At least his heart is:
VillaChris
Not sure on that Lockstock, he seemed to spend the whole of the 2nd half of the very important Norwich game trying to get himself sent off. But yes it would be good to have him as an alternative in the 18.
LockStockVilla
He did have a bad game or two in the second half of the season I'd agree, but aside from the Norwich match (which I do now recall) and maybe one other or so, he showed that he was improving with experience and he never had any preseason with the club. But yeah, at the end of the day we need competition, especially in those FB positions.

Lambert didn't like him because he wasn't a liability when he was on the pitch. Lambert likes to see his fullbacks attack and get caught out of position.
Isa
Correct. Lichaj was the most solid defensively last season but the fact that he prioritised defense over attack is probably why Lambert never offered him a new contract.

Williams is it? was a left back or right back? The derrick Williams that has played half a dozen games In a team getting relegated from league 1? He was a centre half by the way

Just saw this too, we will be lucky to get back the £3m(?) we spent on him. Waste of money; Lambert really isn't helping himself.
