Richard Posted August 2, 2012 Share Posted August 2, 2012 Would like us to sign Lb: Cresswell/ Bennett/ Erik Pieters St: Gary Hooper/ Wilfred Zaha/ Rhodes/ Guidetti Cm: Mark Davies/ Lewis McGugan/ Jake Livermore Cb: Tom Lees/ Caulker Wng: Georgi Chanturia/ Sinclair/ Tom Ince/ Matt Philipps Out Hutton, Warnock, Makoun?? Would have a decent team tbh with depth but a team pretty youthful! Don't forget the 25 man squad rule.. we stand at 23 inc Petrov currently. Which leaves room for 2 more signings without any departures.Another example of why it is not sell to buy. On Ireland if the bid gets to 5 or 6M they can have him, in my opinion. When it comes to quickly using the ball and picking passes he has few equals. I wouldn't entertain any notion of selling him and certainly not anything under £15m. IMO thats crazy talk. Can i ask why you would let (and i strongly believe this regardless of what anyone else thinks) our best and most technically gifted player by a country mile leave the club? Why a couple of people still want our best player to move on if the chance comes along is beyond me. I thought people were sick of us selling our best players year after year? Outscored Carroll at Championship level for a much inferior team, and has a similar record to Jelavic in Scotland. Celtic would want alot for him I'd imagine. I know they will keep in as number 19 (rightly so) and still have him as club captain, but would they register him in there? If things improve he can always be registered in January, but in all honestly he will never play a premierleague game for us again and however unsentimental it is PL may require that space given to someone else... Mattyp_avfc Posted August 2, 2012 Share Posted August 2, 2012 tbh Hooper would be a good signing IMO he's a goalscorer at all levels he's played Iirc, He's got 2 years left on his current deal so would maybe cost between 5-7m for that money we could definitely get Freddie Zaha from Palace or John Guidetti so any of those I'd be happy! This summer at Villa Park promises to be a serious refit If true imo it could mean one of three things: 1) Lambert rates Clark as a backup CB or as more of a midfielder 2) Baker will be due for a loan spell, giving us Vlaar, Clark, Dunne + New Guy 3) My personal favourite, Dunne will be sold meaning we have space for a backup CB to understudy with Baker to Vlaar and Clark.
