Also some ITK isn't ever posted on VT because people get asked Not to post it for public comsumption.

Mods get told stuff as do posters and if someone asks for it not be shared then it should be respected.

Yeah MM and Gazton are ITK as you can get with Villa. The trouble is AVFC are very guarded and really only RL and PF know what is going on. Unless they purposefully leak info. We only found about OGS because of the plane. MM and Glazton may get ITK on good faith but it may not come to fruition or things may change last minute. Doesnt mean that they have relayed misleading information.

WBA getting Rangnick!
Decent manager

His wikipedia page says he is currently "king of the pixies".

There's six points lost in a wave of mutilation then.

Can I ask an honest question in the hope of getting an honest answer? What is exactly attractive about the Villa job at this moment in time?

Are you actually flippin serious?!! :x

Engage your brain there for a minute and you will realise that we are in the top 30 biggest clubs in world football both by revenue and wages.

In England we have the 2 Manchester Clubs, 3 London Clubs and Liverpool who are ahead of us.

Outside of England the top 4 in Spain, the top 3 in Germany the top 4-5 in Italy and the top 2-3 in France.

The Villa job is a massive job in club football. We just need our board to sell it right.

But what players have we got Given, Hutton, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Ireland, Nzogbia, Makoun, Gabby & Bent. The majority of people on here want the back 4 gone so that leaves us with Given, Ireland, Nzogbia, Makoun, Gabby & Bent and a few kids. Ive no doubting that the villa job is a huge job but we are in right trouble of going down at the minute without an overhaul of the squad, we simply have not got the quality we used to have. Its not so long ago we had a back line with Mellberg Laursen Bouma. A midfield with Young Barry Petrov Milner. What have we got at the moment?

Given, Hutton, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Ireland, Nzogbia, Makoun, Gabby & Bent…….All of these players are internationals and would all pick up contracts at Premiership clubs.

Any decent manager should relish the chance to work with our squad of players. Get the best out of the ones he thinks he can work with best and move the rest of them on.

The Villa job is probably one of the least attractive in the premiership. A squad of poor overpaid senior players with the exception of one of two. Strict finances to work with and a sell to buy policy and a heavy reliance on young players some of which are not very good at all.

I would say the Villa job at the moment is probably one of the hardest in the league and I dont think the media have helped by saying how much unfair criticism McCleish got (even though we know it wasnt unfair).

I wouldnt be suprised if a few people turn the job down, being in the top 30 clubs in the world in terms of revenue means nothing when you are posting losses of £54m as we did in our last set of accounts.

People can also be temporary ITKs.

BTW Someone posted Michael Laudrop with the ITK sign earlier? Did anyone ask if he was joking etc?

I wasn't and it's Laudrup :winkold: :!:

This discussion is about people being ITK or not. I believe people who were ITK on OGS merely jumped the gun and it bit them on the ass in the last minute. That doesn't mean they made stuff up leading up to that point. And that's the key for me. They are still privvy to ITK stuff. They just should've held off on the '100% done' posts while it was still only 'highly likely'.

Spot on BOF, even Gazton was sure it was OGS....He also still thought it would be him when the papers were saying he is staying at Molde because he didn't want to move his family.

So something must have been said to all these ITK's to make them sure he was coming to Villa.

If I may fight my corner for a moment..

Personally, I hate the term "ITK". I don't claim to be "in the know". What I can say, with confidence, is that I hear stories from someone very much at the heart of AVFC. When this person tells me something, I make a very conscious decision to remove the emotion from what this person is telling me and then, if appropriate, report as much fact as possible to VT.

My history of these kinds of stories is, if I may say so, pretty strong. I don't remember exactly how much I've told VT but this person was spot on about the timing of Richard Dunne and Stephen Ireland signing for AVFC. He was spot on, so I said "Welcome Richard", and he was also spot on about the delay to RD signing on deadline day. When all around us were wringing their hands about the registration forms being delayed, he was absolutely confident that it was done on time and that was borne out.

With the Stephen Ireland deal, I told VT "Welcome Stephen" when it was complete and confirmed hours before it was made official. I was confident enough to do this because he rang me and physically put SI on the phone to me.

With all the upheaval of Gerard Houllier, I was privy to a lot of the internal strife. I took as much of the emotion out of it as possible and report back. Any emotion I added in was my own, and I was feeling a lot of different emotions about the whole Houllier situation.

With Darren Bent's signing, I heard about it after MYSTERYMAN (I think) but there are 2 people on this board who I met for a pint and to watch a match on TV. Tony and Paul will vouch for me, they knew about DB signing before it was even a sniff of a news story.

As for OGS, I was told that it was done. My source (another phrase I hate) had been told it was done. For me to come on here and say "Welcome Ole" wasn't a tough decision given the track record of this guy's information.

For one reason or another, it didn't work out. I don't yet know why, I will hopefully find out eventually what happened. If it's appropriate, I'll pass on that information too.

There's been many times I have heard news and chosen not to tell VT about it. We don't need to know it, and putting it into the public domain would do a lot more harm than good. It would also lead a very definite trail back to the source of the information, so I keep it to myself. That will continue, as will any bits of relevant news that I pass on.

Am I embarrassed about being wrong? Not in the slightest. I give info on here in good faith. What anybody does after that info, or how they choose to bet their money based on what some bloke on the internet says, is up to them.

If people don't want to believe me, that's their right. I absolutely accept that "some bloke on the internet" is more likely to be a spoofer than a genuine conduit of information. Just don't call me a liar, I don't like that :)

Cheers for that - Another hat in the ring.

What I do find thoroughly amusing currently is that the Americans at FSG as well as Lerner & co have managed to keep the majority of the British press seemingly at a complete loss as to appointments.

I've been on here for about five or six years, pretty much daily, and as far as I'm concerned, Gazton, MM and TheTrees are good sources. Not always exactly right, but my ears perk up when I hear news via these three. Gazton's above post is spot on. there is no deception, there is no attempt to feed false news, simply good high level gen that often works out but occasionally doesn't. these three have my support.

Chnage your question then - you asked about why the Villa job would be attractive and got the answer, also add in one of the top training facilities in the league.

So your question is what will any potential manager think of our squad?

Going back to your initial post. Top 30 in wages not anymore my friend. We have about 10 established premiership players on our books at the moment, plus that model was unsustainable. With regard revenue the latest revenues are taken from a season where we had announced the most lucrative sponsorship deal in the clubs history with FX Pro, season ticket sales were inline with other years O'Neill was manager. However I would expect a sharp fall in revenue this season. In terms of tv revenue this season the only teams to get LESS than us were Blackburn, Bolton & Wolves, those are the 3 teams who also got relegated. The villa job was attractive when O'Neill left but it is no where near as attractive now.

Any idea who we're in for now Gazton? Any hints or clues?

Nope, nothing.

And, just in the interests of full disclosure, I am unlikely to have any more info until July.

Ok. Thanks anyway. The club are keeping this watertight.
