Yeah it's similar to Xia being the stooge for the Chinese government but ultimately he was deciding how best to blow our parachute payments in the most incompetent fashion without any idea what to do if we didn't go up. Chelsea's reckoning will come soon enough if they don't start learning to win football matches again. In 2003 if they'd lost to Liverpool on final day they might have become the new Leeds for all we know so fitting 20 years on they might finally be running out of a credible business model to actually stay relevant as a top tier team.
punkiller1981
Reading the Everton forum it’s starting to seem like between ffp investigations and dodgy ownership going’s on both current and future that they are in more if a mess than any of us realise with administration a genuine possibility. Millions a month required for the stadium that they don’t have, borrowing money each month from potential new owners just to pay wages and millions still outstanding in future player payments. Looks like a worse situation than we ever found ourselves in if that’s possible 2

Cant deduct point off them if they dont have any points . Very clever Everton, very clever indeed

Looks like a worse situation than we ever found ourselves in if that’s possible I think because Everton are a genuinely big name in English football and a PL ever-present, people are resistant to seeing how dire their situation is. They've lost approx. £430m over the last 5 years (PL rules are that they can lose up to £105m over any rolling 3-year period, though there's some leeway for covid) and are building a stadium at a time when input cost inflation in construction is causing project over-runs in every major project, and the country's main stadium-builder has gone bust (not connected to Everton, but it does give some read-across to how stretched their stadium project finances likely are). You can only hide shortfalls that big for so long.

And a stadium that was instigated and initially funded by a Russian owner that's no longer allowed to contribute. It really is a grand old club, I must admit that having been so close to the edge ourselves, it saddens me to see Everton in this state.
Villatillidie95
Luton at home for them next, you would expect them to pick up the 3 points after beating decent premier league opposition in Brentford and Villa....Bournemouth after that which will be a tougher test than Luton however could be on 10 points a week saturday with a bit of luck. Decent chance for them to sort the -5 GD out too Edited September 28, 2023 by Villatillidie95

Decent chance for them to sort the -5 GD out too They’ve been underperforming their stats for a while and they have a good athletic middle of the park. Think Dyche would do well to turn them into a Palace sort of side. Stingy, strong defensively and enough smash and grabs to loiter mid table.
Rugeley Villa
I can see him turning them around . It’s not going to be pretty for the next few years , but they’ll definitely survive this season. I thought they were really good the other night in terms of their work ethic and dogged mentality. I thought we gifted them 2 goals and other than that, they haven't really threatened a very very poor performing Villa. But t's a long season, they will probably get a few wins here and there.

We gifted them both of their goals. They drew against a limited Sheff Utd side. The Brentford performance was decent I guess. I think they will stay up (if they avoid a points deduction in their FFP hearing) but only by virtue of there being 3 worse teams in the league. After the next couple of games they have a pretty tough run which might see their (new?) owners getting twitchy if results go against them.
