VillaRoy
Out of all the players on the pitch for us, Gabs does not look confortable at all, he can't play on the wings, need to bring on Albrighton who is wing natural.
jonno_2004
Drab. Playing in first gear without real threat from Wigan. Really need to step it up, it's this kind of attitude that could get us in further trouble. Makoun has been fantastic though.
Willy_Evergo
I'd also take off Makoun at half time and replace him with Petrov But AVTV are raving about him.
AVFC-Prideofbrum
Decent first half. Reo-Coker looking really good. Good way to respond to being out the team. Agbonlahor isn't upto much, hopefully we will see either Heskey or Albrighton around 55-60 minutes. Possibly both. Maybe 65 minutes ish, Agbonlahor and Makoun off...(on a booking) for Heskey and Albrighton with Downing dropping in the middle. Albrighton right, Young left, Heskey and Bent up top. Gringo
HT - Gabby off, Young left wing, Dowing Off, Albrighton right wing, Petrov on to partner NRC, J2M into the hole slipping nice litle passes through to the DB.
OutByEaster? Posted January 25, 2011 Moderator Share Posted January 25, 2011 Not the best of halves, it's easy to blame the three wingers (and they've not been great) but I think our problem has been in the middle - the midfield hasn't supported Bent or covered the back four. I'd like to see Gabby and Ash swap places and I think we should bring on Petrov for Makoun who I don't think is quite up to Premier league speed yet. picicata
No need to panic. Just need to change things around a bit and then we have the beating of this lot.
Pilchard
Have had the chances to have won this by half time. But its a game that's shown why both teams are in trouble - we've struggled to score and looked frail in defence. They've had a great chance and missed it too. andym
bad final ball is yet again costing us. we are working it up to the box fine, then putting in rubbish crosses. downing has messed up every single chance to get the ball in a decent place. we also have no one following up for 2nd chances. ash, gabby, downing all just standing there and not anticipating makoun doesnt look quite up to speed (as expected) but his passing looks very good
kurtsimonw
Better side for the most part and should be leading. Game hasn't exactly been one-sided though.
coda
This had better not go the way of the Sunderland game.
Guest av1
I would take off downing and gabby for albrighton and heskey. albrighton...........young .....bent.......heskey...
paulanddonya
Can't fathom it. It's bloody obvious to me. Gabby up front and Young on wing or Albrighton on wing Whatever - playing Gabby on the wing just isn't working, nor is Ashley Young up front, as I keep saying - one goal from open play in 3 yrs ! Flummexed why we keep persisting with it, coz if he changed it - we would be challenging for Europe by Mid-Feb - if he don't we will forever be 12th-17th
Fordy909
Aggy off, Albrighton on. Downing left where he plays best, simple.
LancsVillan Posted January 25, 2011 Moderator Share Posted January 25, 2011 Downing is shocking. Gabby needs to be central not lost out left. Oh well Northern for HT music all is not too bad.
VillaRoy
We can get the 3 points, we need to move up a gear. Blackpool beating Man U 2-0, we won't hear the end of it if they win .
MWindle
Need to change things around a bit, bit sloppy, but some very nice balls also, good signs for the future.
Villarocker
We look shit tonight. I hope Houllier knows how to throw tea cups around. Bent must be wondering what the **** he has joined with the way the lads are playing tonight. If a right footer - Albrighton - isn't going to be playing then surely Gabby needs to be out there with Downing on the left? We looked a bit clueless in that first half.
