  1. I am going to be optimistic and say Sherwood will get in players of his own and we will start the season with a starting 11 mainly consisting of new faces which means the memories and psychological mindset of being a team of losers would be all but extinct from the squad, in it's place we will have players eager to prove their worth in the premiership for the first time, trusted pro's like Clark and Guzan along with some talented eager youngsters ie. Grealish, Gardner, Robinson. Could be a blessing in disguise. Looking at Gueye he is extremely similar to Delph so we have his replacement there, we need to replace Cleverley and Benteke and add a few more of quality and I think we will be ok. Sherwood will get us playing good football, Gil will be again like a new signing but this time in the right environment. UTV
  2. Anyone else get the impression Delph mentioned Micah's comments about Citeh as a bit of a **** you after all it was Micah's initial comments which kind of blew open this whole sorry saga. Think Delph wanted to create a bit of hate for Micah there IMO.
  3. Sherwood and his 50% win ratio will see us through, 2 wins, maybe a draw as well for good luck. We will finish above Sunderland & Newcastle, probably Hull too, get taken over in the summer, Benteke will sign a new contract and the last few seasons will be a nightmare we can forget. UP THE VILLA
  4. Lets have some perspective; QPR have won 2 games in their last 10, they need 2 wins out of 4 games to catch us Burnley have won 1 game in their last 10, they need 2 wins and a draw to catch us due to goal difference in 4 games left Sunderland have won 1 game in their last 10 and have the worst run of fixtures of those fighting relegation by far, they need one win to catch us but... We have won 6 games in the last 12 since Sherwood took over including wins over Spurs, Liverpool, our local rivals twice and a 4-0 thrashing of the aforementioned Sunderland whom a lot of people seem to think have a better chance of staying up than us. That's not mentioning the fact in our last game we outplayed the defending champions on their patch and if it wasn't for an absolutely criminal error by the linesmen/ref we would of likely won and be sitting pretty with 35 points and really, 4 winnable games left, based on current form. Chin up lads, we stop fighting when were dead not when we are playing the best football we have seen in quite some time just because Hull got their end of season relegation fight standard big scalp against an absolutely toothless Liverpool side.
  5. I think Popov, Belhanda and Bacouna were our options in the centre of midfield, playmaker role, it seems Bacouna is the one thats gone through. Popov, club refusing to sell, Belhanda costing too much. So thats the playmaker, Okore our CB, Helenius our ST, Tonev our winger. Probably a bonus this Bacouna can play the wing. Cresswell LB and this lad from Norwich the GK? 6 signings? Is that it? RB cover is needed and I also think a CM would be a bonus.

We now rely on two teams fighting for champions league to beat two teams fighting for relegation. Do we believe that both Spurs and Arsenal will throw it away?

WBA could pull one back, Saints would be likely to score but one thing is set in stone, QPR are diabolical and will 100% not score *tempts fate* Come on lads, everything is still in our hands, tuesday's game is massive and if the worst occurs, that team need to play for their **** lives against Wigan. Darren Bent hat-trick. Done

Am I the only one who is more interested in us winning both our remaining games and potentially finishing 10th? We are out of the relegation battle now, for it to happen there is far too many freak results to occur. Close the thread and forget it ever happened.
  9. Wow. Considering the lows as a Villa fan we have had to endure the last two seasons, that was the most important and exciting win in a very long time. What a way to turn things round, a win at Norwich and were safe. The whole team was exceptional, been impressed with Lowton all season culminating in his best performance for us. His attacking play and skill is brilliant, reads the game so well and is solid at the back. Special mention to Bennett aswell, he has had stick but again really good from him. If he bulks up, he can become a good player for us. Has skill like Lowton and is very good going forward. And then Benteke, just unbelievable, no words can describe his impact. 10 marks all round. Wouldn't it be funny if we beat United..
  11. Absolutely fantastic to see him doing well and on the road to full health. I think we will more likely see a friendly between us and Celtic sometime in the future whereby Stan could possibly come on for a small amount of time. Great to see anyway. Watching that BBC clip, there's a lot of respect for our club from other teams I feel for this, we are a good club with our support for Stan and also for Acorns, makes me proud to be a Villa fan.

What the hell are City playing at. United not exactly doing much better at West Ham. If West Ham can be this close to beating United, then maybe we could pull a shock, never know! City tho, idiots!

Massively so, I agree, last week before this weekends fixtures, I really could see us beating Fulham and breaking away abit and now I look at the table with dread. We can do it tho, I believe the team has more quality. The thought of going down is too much, optimism/blind optimism is the only way forward untill the dust is settled. I really dislike Stoke though, would love for it to be them to go. Agree about Wigan but they are also absolute shits for getting out of trouble, hopefully their luck will run out, doubt it though.

I think QPR will beat them as that really would be their very last strand of hope. Norwich and Sunderland, the same two important fixtures as us, I fancy us getting more from both games than them. Then they have spurs and in form Southampton away? I think and hope Stoke will be the team to go down.

Stoke are absolutely awful, they 100% deserve to be the third team to go down. The Sunderland result was to be expected tbh, but I know we have it in our team to pull off a result against them and Norwich, can you honestly say the same for Stoke? The best they can hope for is a draw or two in their remaining fixtures. They are an embarrassment to football.
  16. Really don't how he has done anything wrong in few minutes he has had so far? Pathetic, judge the player when he plays a full game. He looks tidy and you can tell he has abit of technique. Why people insist on jumping on a players back when he has hardly had a chance is beyond me.
  17. Never once slagged Delph off and im glad, he was very unlucky with injuries, this is the first proper run in the side and he has become one of our best players. Another excellent industrious and skillfull performance, I rarely see him lose the ball. Now with the license to get forward abit more, we have the player we thought we could get. Still young. I hope he stays regardless of what happens this season. Its gonna hurt us without him for the next two, his good form coincides with us playing alot better the last few games. Referee should not have given a yellow for that
  18. Forgot to mention that was definately a penalty aswell!
  19. Actually thought we deserved a draw there, awful pathetic mistake from Clark and the usual defensive frailties but we did look a threat. Delph again MOTM for me, he has turned his career around 360 degrees to the point where I actually think he is one of our best players, that word removed of a ref did not need to give a yellow, he didn't do anything wrong there, undeserved and now misses the two most important games in our season. Excellent bit of skill aswell around the 79 minute mark. Gutted as usual but its Man City, they are the champions, although they didn't look particularly great tonight, they have the quality which we unfortunately lack. Next two games are it for me, we need to win both else we are down, this is what it boils down to. Sylla will have to start next two games instead of Delph. Guzan was on top form as usual for us, Agbonlahor also showing his usual passion for the shirt, lacking abit of end product.
  20. We were absolutely awful untill their goal, much better since then, just hope we can nick a goal. A point would be huge as someone said previously with Wigan winning at the moment. We do not want a Reading win that's for sure. COME ON VILLA!
  21. Absolutely no way were getting anything from this game now with **** Bennett playing instead of Vlaar. Where did that injury come from?!
  22. Solid performance, so happy we got the 3 points today, absolutely vital. Clark gets some stick but man of the match. The whole back four played well, need to stick with them, keep any of our dodgy natural left backs far away. Dawkins looked decent. We should stick with the team that finished the game bar Sylla for Nzogbia. UTV
  23. Wow that was effin hard to take. Im trying to keep a cool head. I had us to win 3-2 after a dream I had, I thought id turned into Nostradamus untill they held the board up to read 6 **** minutes extra time. WTF??? Every half chance was given to Everton but lets be honest we can't keep gifting goals away from corners! There are obvious positives to this. We fought hard all game, we scored three excellent well worked goals. Weimann buries that chance early on and its a whole different story. IF we show this fight for the rest of the season then we have a chance. How the **** can you right Sylla off so easily? he was on for hardly any time atall, made on bad tackle and one really good one, other than that what else did he do wrong. Give the lad a chance ffs!
  24. Baffled to what the formation is with that line up, either way it doesnt fill me with too much hope. I dont want to hate on Bannan but we need midfield strength, he is the complete opposite. We constantly get over run in midfield. Westwood Clark Ireland, surely those 3 in midfield would make it abit stronger surely!? Bennett as a winger? He could be good there tbh, much better than a left back where again, too weak.
