The_Rev
This thread has just made me realise that Never Say Never Again was not a "canon" Bond film. Very strange.
Zatman
I think Brosnan was the best to play the character James Bond but he got put in some awful films except Goldeneye
Jez
Roger is just amusing. He was in his 50s when doing them and some of the dodge wipe overs are brilliant! Sean my fav but i love all Bond films. Well maybe not Die Another Day which is the worse Bond film ever and actually makes Moonraker and A View to a Kill look good! paddy
Sure we've done this before but I agree. Roger Moore for me.
peterms
Roger Moore is the most pathetic apology for an actor. He can't play any role properly. His one nod towards acting is to be able to raise one eyebrow while keeping the other one still. Well, pass the Oscar. Given that his entire cinema "personality" seems to revolve around standing upright in a dj looking like a would-be lounge lizard, and trying to make bedroom eyes at any nearby female, I can see how he might possibly have passed muster on one small part of the Bond persona, accounting for about 5% of the whole. As for the rest, no chance. He's about as far removed from Bond as you can get without passing out. He was only ever selected because in that era, they were doing Bond films which were not serious. The producers would possibly call them self-referential post-ironic tributes to the genre, in a contemporary style. Fact is, they were shite. Daniel Craig is the only challenger to Connery. Moore is the Bond you would choose if you were making films for nursery schools.
leviramsey Posted September 5, 2010 VT Supporter Share Posted September 5, 2010 I'd just like to know, who, besides me, cast their vote for Dalton? (it's always good to know who you can trust in a foxhole)

Risso
Sorry, but it's Roger Moore for me. He's in my favourite Bond film for a start, ie Live and Let Die.

villa4europe
moonraker wasnt great but they caught the wave and made an absolute killing from it (iirc it was the most succesful bond film until the brosnan ones) i find it hard not to like moore because live and let die, the spy who loves me and view to a kill (i like it!) are all decent films and there was obviously such a decline in the films after him nothing touches SC though, TD suffered from awful films mixed with a poor performance, PB was good but suffered from shockingly bad films and DC is IMO in danger of going the same way 1st was good 2nd one was a rubbish film

Stevo985 Posted September 5, 2010 VT Supporter Share Posted September 5, 2010 I went for Brosnan. I don't think he's the best, but he was in the Bond films that were released as I was growing up, as well as Goldeneye on the N64, so when I think of James Bond, his face comes into my head. he is James Bond in my head. He was a good Bond to be fair, but not the best/ Die Another Day taints him, that's a shit film. As for best, I love Daniel Craig as Bond. I think he's great. Connery is still probably better, but 1 or 2 more good Bond films and Craig will take it I think.

We have indeed, and that one has a poll too Though neither that one nor this one have every actor... :| I think he was just wanting to know who VT thought was best. None of the rest would have a look in, although maybe moreso then Dalton.
Jondaken
Personally I think Royale was the best of the Bond movies by far, but that's maybe more to do with the fact it was more aimed at a modern audience, and removed alot of the slapstick that I was never really a fan of. Craig got lucky with being handed that role, but he did it very well. Connery wins handsdown imo.
kurtsimonw
Brosnan was the first Bond I saw, , but I think my favourite overall is Connery. Craig has done a good job so far and I'm not a fan of Moore to be honest.

Jezza
I voted for Daniel Craig, although it was a close run thing with Connery. Just feel that DC had a cold blooded killer down to a tee, whereas SC didn't quite have the same ruthlessness about him. Timothy Dalton was apparently closest to the Fleming character, as I understand it, and as a couple of posters have already mentioned above. Rodders
Timothy Dalton. Thought he was great and I enjoyed the films he was in. Then Connery, Brosnan, Craig, Lazenby, the chap who played Bond in the 60's Casino Royale ( David Niven? ), Austin Powers, James Pond, Roger Moore.
