Not confirmed he’s the lead, could be Taylor Kitsch who was very good in Friday Night Lights. Hm, McConaughey had been in The Lincoln Lawyer, Mud and Killer Joe before True Detective and technically had already filmed The Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyer's Club too. Harrelson had been in No Country for Old Men, Zombieland (not a huge hit but he played a good part), The Hunger Games and a bunch of other stuff so he was pretty established. True Detective definitely catapulted them higher though, I'll agree that much. At least those two had done some good things before TD though. Vince Vaughn's CV is hardly impressive.
