benevans Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I don't care what anyone may say, I'd have taken a draw over a loss all day. I never want to see Villa lose, no matter what the occasion or circumstances. We can easily put a second string out in the 2nd leg that is capable of beating them, especially with home advantage.
AVFC-Prideofbrum Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 To be honest, Luke Young was solid. Collins and Dunne played very well. Downing's delivery was excellent. Friedel for me at fault for both goals suprisingly. Poor performance but happy to be in the draw.
Pilchard Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 One up front completely the wrong decision. Glad we are still in the competition, well done Stan Petrov.
AndyM3000 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Friedel in the replay as well. Keep Guzan fresh for the final.
HJ Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Cracking game to watch. Don't mind the replay really and its more game time for Delph and Fonz and hopefully the likes of Beye and Albrighton get on too.
leviramsey Posted February 14, 2010 VT Supporter Posted February 14, 2010 We can easily put a second string out in the 2nd leg that is capable of beating them, especially with home advantage. Not to mention that our second string seems to want to win cup games more than our first string does.
KAZZAM Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Why the **** we played 4-5-1 with heskey upfront on his own at the start is beyond me shoulda been Carew and Delfouneso from the start.
The_Steve Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Palace are dirty word removeds and the level of officiating was appalling.
Ingram85 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 fair result in the end, hard worked game in which we started well but got steadily worse as the game went on, palace battled hard and deserved the replay. Officials were dire today, utterly useless. Fans were men of the match, awesome stuff guys! Carew needs to go and A. Young needs to buck his ideas up a bit.
Jez Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 We can easily put a second string out in the 2nd leg that is capable of beating them, especially with home advantage. I'm sorry what makes you think that? Minus Gabby that was our first choice 11 out there today! Yeah a second string is going to manage just fine! Poor performance, we're struggling badly to create chances now. How many saves did their keeper have to make, a couple, half a dozen?
AVFC-Prideofbrum Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 ratings, i'd probably go: friedel - 5 young - 7 collins - 7 dunne - 7 warnock - 6 downing - 7 (Just for delivery wise) young - 6.5 milner - 6 petrov - 6 delph - 6 heskey - 6 carew - 5
briggaman Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Well, it's good to still be in the FA Cup and I have no doubt we will finish them off at VP. However, it could well dent our chances of winning the League Cup. We really could (and should) have won today, despite not playing very well. The ref was shocking, as was the linesman. The funny part was when the linesman made Young move the ball onto the line for a corner in the second half, despite Palace scoring from a corner taken outside..... Absolutely fuming with the commentary on ITV aswell. So biased it was ubelievable. Our away support was fantastic and deserved more praise than their crappy home support. Anyway, job almost done, despite not playing very well. We'll do them in the replay.
lmarsha_926 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 If we draw Chelsea or a bigger team Martin will proberbly play the reserves as if we get through we might not be able to beat Chelsea if we draw Raeding or West Brom I think he will ply the strongest side for the replay.
Maradona10 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Carew much better than Heskey! Least he offered a goal threat!

Poor performance, we're struggling badly to create chances now. How many saves did their keeper have to make, a couple, half a dozen? It was exactly the same against Doncaster last year. Full team, drew 0-0 away. 2nd team, won 3-1 at home. They will be less up for it, there will be more space on the pitch and it won't be so hostile. We should have enough quality to see them off although it's still a tough game.
ClaretMahoney Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Don't you people realize we will draw the scummers in the next round?
Mark8691 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Relieved we got the draw. So uninspriing as an attacking force. And Heskey didnt disappoint with his getting hurt routine. If only we got points for that, he'd be lethal for us..
Alpaywasawesome Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Loved Petrov exploding into the box like a bullet train for the equalizer. The officiating was dreadful IMO. Inconsistent the whole way through. Palace's first goal, the linesman didn't give a **** when the ball was way outside the quadrant, but when Young placed it on the edge, the linesman wanted it further back. Also both offside calls against Delph(when he was through on goal) and Delfouneso were so obviously incorrect, that linesman really ought to be sacked. Delph's yellow card and the subsequent free-kick given to Palace was another baffling decision. Shit refereeing. But our performance didn't help either. Why isn't there more people in the box attacking crosses? So many times Young or Downing gets in good crosses and at most only 2 players are in there trying to get on the end of it - most of the time it's crosses into an empty box.

We should have enough quality to see them off although it's still a tough game. Why will they be less up for it? For all we know they might decide...Villa create jack shit we can have them. Your right though, very tough.
