Seriously, in the same interview:

Mr Ive done nothing wrong have I? I havent tried to unsettle anyone (in relation to parker).

"Who made it public that we made an offer?" said Redknapp.

Followed by:

"I like Craig Bellamy but I don't know if they would sell him,"

Who are Spurs playing in the CL qualifier and when?

Draw isn't until next week...

As it stands, one of: Fenerbahce/Young Boys, Dinamo Kiev/AA Gent, Sporting Braga/Celtic, PAOK Thessaloniki, Unirea Urziceni, Sampdoria, or Auxerre.

I know what he is capable of just saying he wasnt the first person to mention Parker as he does with other players

Sorry, wasnt refering to your post, was just making a comment about him being a massive word removed.

Harry ponders City raid

Harry Redknapp has hinted that he could look to Manchester City in his bid to strengthen the Tottenham squad without spending too much, although he has played down talk of a move for Stephen Ireland.

The Spurs manager has been thwarted in his pursuit of some transfer targets this summer, with Joe Cole opting to join Liverpool and West Ham rejecting an offer for Scott Parker.

Redknapp is still looking to bring in reinforcements but does not necessarily believe that he has to splash major cash.

He therefore doubts whether Spurs would be able to afford Ireland, who has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane from Man City.

Redknapp does, however, believe that Eastlands could be the place to shop for some bargains before the transfer deadline.

City need to trim their squad to get down to 25 before the start of September and may be prepared to loan out a number of players.

"I just need a couple of fresh faces that would make the difference," Redknapp said in The People.

"One or two walk through the door and it gives everybody a lift. I hoped Joe Cole would have done that if he'd come here but I think there are one or two out there who would do the same - maybe from Manchester City.

"I reckon there's two or three players out there where you don't have to spend any real money on. I think there will be a lot of loans about, because teams are going to loan people out just to get them off the wage bill.

"City look like they might have to do that with one or two because they've got a big squad so it will be interesting.

"Stephen Ireland would cost too much. I like him but he is expensive at £11million or £12million.

"We wouldn't be in a position to spend that much on him, it would be a problem."

King dilemma

As well as mulling over his transfer options, Redknapp is facing a major dilemma over the fitness of key defender Ledley King.

The England international is struggling with his ongoing knee problem ahead of the start of the new season and Redknapp is not willing to take any risks.

The Spurs boss admits he may have to leave King out of the Premier League opener against Manchester City to ensure he is ready for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifier a few days later.

"The start of the season is a real problem - just look at Ledley. I'm either going to play him in Europe or in the league," Redknapp explained.

"We start with Man City which is a big opening game so do I play him against Man City or do I play him in the Champions League?

"At the moment Jonathan Woodgate is struggling, Ledley's come back but his knee's not great, so we've got to be careful.

"That Champions League qualifier is massive for us now. We've worked hard to get there and we want to get into the group stages otherwise all the good work we put in last season won't count for anything.

"If Ledley is fit the chances are I'll save him for that because those two qualifying games are now the bigger games for us."

Hehe, Harry up to his old tricks again.

With the stories going round about City's dirty tactics, regarding even their own players, I hardly think a City fan can get on his high horse when it comes to footballing ethics.

It's still Harry up to his old tricks no matter who points it out.

I wasn't getting on my high horse about anything; as I've said in the past, this type of thing just seems to be all over football and it isn't worth getting upset about. If Ireland sees himself having a better future at City and Spurs pay our asking price, then more power to him. He's done a great job for us in the past, and I hope he does again the future

"When we want a player, other clubs ask much more than is normal.

"This is not good and it is not right. Until today, it is only City that are moving the market.

"We are interested in good players like Balotelli and Milner but we have time - we have a lot of different choices."

Why are Redknapp's comments worse than the above?

interesting article from candleface. Nothing imminent and a sell to buy policy. Be good to hear Glastons comments, after making top 4 i expected a big push from spurs. click me

My my, The mighty (best run, financially sound, can afford anyone they want) Spurs have a "Sell to Buy" policy.

And Glaston turns up on VT having a dig about the Milner situ.

Notice he's not here to refute the quotes as a "fabrication" and just good ole candleface puting the press of the scent.

Come on the Glasto, tell us the truth

Why are Redknapp's comments worse than the above?
Because it is common and public knowledge that City have made official bids for those 2 players. Redknapp just publically says he'd like to have this player or that player at the club. Martin was asked about McGeady and he said he wouldn't talk about players at other clubs. Harry tends not to do that (though he does mix it in every now and again).
