The only honest party left are the OMRLP, but they never seem to stand in my area. At the election I will maybe spoil my ballot paper as fed up with all polticians. If not, there is no way I will vote for either the BNP or Tories, so will just see who is left. I would only vote Labour if by doing so it may help keep the Tories out.

I have to be honest, I didn't understand all the questions but I did my best.

Economic Left/Right: -1.00

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.85

I have no idea what this means.

It very simply means that as far as money goes, you believe in (very slightly) socialism (that's not the best word to use there but my mind went blank as to ways to put it), and as far as society goes you believe a fair amount in individual freedom, ie. that the government should stay as much as possible out of peoples lives.

Either way, you're in the smart sector (;)) so well done.

I'm center* left.

I'm slightly left of center on economic/functional issues, in that I believe in a regulated market economy but a market economy none the less. I believe in moderatly high taxation, redistribution and the welfare state, but I have nothing against people making a lot of money if they are good at what they do and that economic gain is an important incentive for progress.

I'm quite radically liberal on social values such as immigration, globalisation, gay/lesbian lights, abortion etcetera and I am strongly anti-clerical.

Then I'm very much towards the center again when it comes to issues such as the use of military action abroad, the environment and so on.

*Used here as a kind of European center. Which is far to the left of the American center, and I'd say slightly to the left of the British center.

The British don't have a "Center".

We Brits have a Centre. :winkold:

I find it quite interesting that some continental Europeans speak and write American English, and some speak and write British English.

I just want to make it very clear that I usually write British English :)

But it is interesting. I don't know if most people really take notice whether they write British or American English or maybe even don't know there is a difference at all, and I'd guess most people tend to write a little bit of both. In Norway, in schools, it is optional which one you want to use. For those of us who actually are aware of the difference, however, I think the answer must be found in cultural identity and subsequently which version of English you are exposed to through various media. I have personally always identified more with Britain than America culturally, and naturally I have encoutered written English more often through British media than through American. What would be really interesting, would be to see if there were significant national differences between people who use English as their second (or third, or fourth for that matter) language. Especially between European countries. That could possibly say something about a country's cultural identity, and possibly correlate with their respective political relations with Britain and America.

And if that's not off topic, I don't know what is :)
