Done the L.O.T.R marathon this weekend ....imagine if Stuart Townsend didn't get the boot how awful he would have been .....anyway what amazing films hard to believe it started in 2001

Anyway its a must for anyone who hasn't seen it  8.5/10

Working on getting the gf to do this with me between christmas and new year,

My missus won't watch it with me :( I've been trying to get her to for nearly 9 years.

Is it just me who thinks the non-CGI stuff in LOTR looks miles better than the OTT CGI in the Hobbit? I think Lurtz looks much, much better than Azog.

Also watched Annie Hall - I've not seen many Woody Allen films before only one I can recall is Blue Jasmine which I liked and I stopped watching Matchpoint half way through. Quite enjoyed this, though Allen does run a thin line with his neuroticism getting on my nerves

I've been on a bit of a Woody Allen spree the last few weeks. Watching (and re-watching) some of his classics.

Manhattan, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Mighty Aphrodite, Annie Hall, Purple Rose of Cairo and last night I watched Crimes and Misdemeanors for the first time. Absolutely brilliant, Martin Landau is so bloody good in it.

I've never seen a Woody Allen film

Well strictly speaking I saw 5 minutes of Casino Royale once before switching off

No idea if its a conscious thing or just that the films don't appeal to me when I read the synopsis

If you want to be scared, watch this film -

MV5BMTkxOTk4NDM1Nl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzI0 is a kid's film you big wuss.

Did the poster not come up properly?

No ;)

That looks like a Stephen King short story. There's one about one of those monkeys with chimes, and everytime it chimes...SOMEONE DIES nnnnnggggggghhhhhh. It doesn't do it itself, though. It's like, mystical and shit. King also wrong an episode of X-Files which was very similar, but instead of a monkey it was a creepy doll thing.

Thoughts on Cloud Atlas people?

I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure it translates brilliantly from book to film. That's not a slight on the film itself, it's just the structure of the story is better off in a book. It's a bit too complex for film and it left out some important details despite being three hours long (which is too long for a film in my opinion).

I'd give it a 7.5/10 too.

Everything relates to Stephen King with you :)

It does have similarities but it's based on the book "Monkey Shines" (Surprisingly) by Michael Stewart.

Of course it does, he is the creator after all, on this level of the Tower at least :)
