Guido Rodriquez and Hermoso please. I’d also check out Martin Terrier at Rennes. He’s recovered from his ACL and is now bad in the team and scoring. He had 21 goals or something form LW/IF the season before his injury.

Remove the high earners who aren’t key players and bring in some savvy free transfers to lift the quality and provide more worthwhile options… I think that would be wise. Easier said than done though 😆

No injury prone players either… I’m fed up and pissed off with all the injuries we’ve had so far. We need some stability and consistency to keep progressing…

Whatever is saved in fees for so called frees goes on wages so not so savvy and also cannot be amortised. Our wage bill is spiralling and needs to be controlled

Another example today that we need to buy an aerially dominant centre back in the summer.

Teams can see we can’t handle balls into the box and Emi can only do so much. Maybe Ty coming back will fix this problem but we look suspect every time we play a team that can deliver the ball well from set pieces.

Ty will fill that void, but we defo need back up for rotation.

Nearly every set piece into the box looks like it could end up in a goal. It's awful to watch!

I doubt Mings will get that many minutes for us anymore - let alone be a first choice player.

The thing is, you can’t be excellent at everything. Konsa and Torres as a centre back partnership seem very good at almost everything, bar dominating/heading - and that’s where Martinez comes in to try and claim crosses.

We’re aiming to be (and basically are) a possession based side; those physical strengths are likely going to be a weakness for a while as they aren’t as important for how we play.

Not necessarily. We saved a lot of money getting Kamara in on a free for example. Same for Tielemens. Any agents fees or signing on bonus would be much less that the expected transfer fee in both cases.

How about Florian Wirtz, just recovered from an ACL, don’t want him though due to him being injury prone?

An ACL is a major injury but it doesn’t mean the player is then a dud to be avoided.

If we do our due diligence there are players out there that could improve us, whether they’re coming back off a serious injury and not.

UPDATE: PLEASE DISREGARD -- FOR THE MOST PART -- THIS BAD DATA BELOW. MY APOLOGIES. I looked too quickly. I was wondering about the Joe Gauci one. It shocked me.

But who do you mean? Lenglet? If you look at the low end of our salary table, you see lesser quality, apart from Konsa, who seems ridiculously underpaid. Lenglet seemed overpaid. On some days 😉, Youri also. Diaby is hugely important, IMO. So I don't know where the fat is.

Hermoso is a realistic signing I think. Was going to watch him tonight but he's not involved. Played for them in the CL match v Inter as LCB in a back 3 so that signing feels right up our street as he can cover a few positions in the backline.

My dream/fantasy signing has been Chiesa… I don’t write players off if they’ve been injured at some point. I’m massively looking forward to having Mings and Buendia back… and also Kamara (what a blow that was)…

Just try to avoid signing players who are regularly injured, pick up knocks or tend to have long lay offs… those who struggle to keep up a sustained run of games…  I don’t think there’s anything wrong, unfair or extreme about that view…

Maybe an example and a player who has previously been linked or discussed is Dybala… it makes even less sense to hand big, long contracts to ageing players too - as we’ve seen, we struggle to shift them later…

It wasn’t a strong point or extreme view… I’m just fed up and annoyed by the rotten luck we have had with injuries and would prefer to avoid such or as bad situations in future… but, a lot of these things are out of anyone’s control.

I don’t think that’s accurate or up to date:

Gauci on 100k?! 😂 😂😂

not sure McGinn is being paid that much and

Ezri did get a new contract and pay rise a while ago (absolutely no way he’s only getting 30k).

Many of these sites don’t have the accurate figures… look on another one and they will be different.

Hause was given a new contract when Dean was here and is definitely being paid more than 8k.

Anyway, you’re forgetting the players out on loan

We HAVE to shift Coutinho and, yes, Digne… club was stupid to hand such big contracts to older players… we need to learn from mistakes of the past and realise how difficult it is to shift them later when they turn out crap or are past it… it’s not a sensible or sustainable approach.

Chambers, Dendoncker and Sanson must and will hopefully all leave… Olsen

Cash is a debatable one, depends on a decent offer and an upgrade being brought in. He would remain a good member of the squad regardless. Same goes for Carlos too (injury troubles, big contract).

If, somehow, a decent offer came in for Tielemans… personally, I would sell. Great chance to make a profit on a replacable and upgradable player. But happy to have him remain and improve under Unai too…

Lenglet and Zaniolo will return to their clubs…

We’ll probably have to shift Archer again once he returns…

Probably forgetting some off the top of my head…

We have to exploit any opportunity to upgrade and improve… might be a case of having to balance the books too… it’s going to be a very busy summer…

No worries mate, hear you about the injuries we’ve had this season, Kamara especially.

G. Rodriquez is just a player that I think fits us as a DM, he knows the two Emi’s and he’d fit right into position as he plays there for both Argentina (35 caps) and Real Betis. He’s on a free so it would be silly not to at least speak to him. He knows Acuna too, who we were linked to previously. He’s only on about 27k too.

Hermoso is on about 136k though ☹️

Cool… it’s just annoying… we could’ve stayed in that top 3 without the injuries… I really miss those guys too, really fond of the majority of our players… amazing work Unai is doing…

Hey… anyone decent we can get on a free, especially if they’re better than what we have in that position… we should go for…

We will have to get a DM… Bouba won’t be back all that soon will he?

Forget Acuna, too old. I’d like us to keep a lid on the maximum age of the squad… players with longevity and potential. I feel like we have enough senior or experienced pros anyway (wouldn’t say no to another leader or captain type as long as they are good enough though) … we need to boost the talent/ability in certain areas…

Seems to be a long running obsession with signing Frimpong… not sure he would fit in all that well, more of a wing back or attacking player than one that is defensively sound… another little’un too… is Unai even interested and he would probably be really expensive…

I’d rather have a RB who can defend well,  first and foremost, while contributing going forward and able feed the attacking players.. rather than someone who wants to bomb down the wing and possibly neglect the more important duties…

this team is lacking in defensive steel and resilience… we sorely need some players who can enhance us on that side too…

For me Frimpong would be a replacement for Cash. A Frimpong purchase wouldn’t and probably shouldn’t happen without Cash going out the other way. He’d be a massive improvement on Cash's forward play though.

If, and it’s a big if, we go for Frimpong we’d need the DM to slot in at CB when he bombs on.
