You name our defence

Was it definitely a back 3 v Brentford or was Cash just playing the Moreno role? I know in possession it looked like a 3 but wasn't 100%

The shape was slightly different to our usual set up.

I know folk think otherwise but I just can't see Mings and Torres starting together as the centre backs, despite it becoming a 3 with one full back pushing on it still requires one of them to play on their wrong side when defending, and at times when building play. I think they're our two best CBs - or at least will prove to be - but think the only way they play together is in a set-up like the Brentford game the other day, which I think could work very well, but it puts more emphasis on Cash to provide quality when attacking and he's previously been inconsistent at best in that area.

I think Unai would play to the opposition so I'd go with a variation of these.

1. Konsa Mings Torres Moreno

2. Cash Konsa Mings Torres

3. Cash Konsa Mings Torres Moreno

3 amazing options with Diego Carlos waiting on the bench. How lucky are we?

I was thinking have we possibly got the best CB selection in the league aside from Man City?

If Carlos is back to his best and Torres hits the ground running I think you're right mate.

I'm never comfortable with the idea of CBs playing at either LB/RB. I'd much prefer players to just play in the positions they specialise in.

This said, my doctorate isn't in football like our glorious Basque leader, so I trust in whatever he feels is best.

In all seriousness though, I don't think there's going to be a set 'first 11' this season. It'll be an almost constant rotation, based on opponent and competition. Everyone will need to be prepared to play on any given match day. Add in another right back and we're in a real strong position, personale-wise.

Pep just recently destroyed every team he played doing just this.

*ding ding ding* - we have a winner.

This is why we signed another CB when many said we didn't need one.

As good as Mings and Konsa were as a CB pairing last season and they were outstanding Torres wasn't signed to warm the bench I'd be amazed if he didn't start as the left CB against Newcastle.

Pretty bad job for Dasilva goal albeit seemed to be stationed at LB. That said not writing off players like some over meaningless friendlies but didn't think he stood out in any appearance so no need to rush him in first game

It was I agree but I feel that was bit of an experimental side which is what pre season is all about right?

I feel he was bought for a reason and that's as a ball playing LCB, once Moreno is fit I don't see us messing to much with that left side it'll be Torres and Moreno with Digne coming on to close games off when we are winning,  I can see the RB position changing depending on the opposition with Ezri coming in for Cash at times.

Last season we had a really good defense this season we could get close to having the best in the league imo!
