You need someone who specialises in this sort of thing. But its a scenario with several different aspects. The Law Society might be able to provide you a list of local solicitors who deal with this. A rape support organisation in the local area. Ask the local Police for details of their complaints policy. That should explain the next steps if you are unhappy with their response. Does she have other friends who know? Can you pool money together and get the best lawyer possible? Sorry but that's the way it works over here and from my limited experience of family back in the UK getting into trouble it seems to be the same over there. In addition to the advice above, I am in the middle of re-training as a solicitor and can suggest a couple of good London-based firms who might be able to help, as they have lots of experience bringing claims against the Police: - Bhatt Murphy - Imran Khan & Partners If not, here's a good website to find top-ranked law firms by legal practice area & region:https://www.legal500.com/united-kingdom-solicitors/ Because of the nature of the claim, you might be able to get a good firm to represent her pro-bono (for free - although this is increasingly uncommon due to government cuts to legal aid sector), or she might be eligible for civil legal aid - depending on her financial circumstances. I can't remember for sure, she was either injected or she drank something but they confirmed it was the date rape drug administratored. The horrifying part is she now remembers everything, everything he did while she lay there helpless. She has not been able to open up fully about the things he did but from what she told me it's harrowing She was a maid/waitress in a Novotel in London the rapist was a manager in there. She said she met him no more than twice and in was only being introduced. I should also add, that the hotel withheld CCTV if him standing outside of her room that 1st night for about 2 hours before he forced his way in. He apparently tried the nice approach first when she refused and told him to get out he attacked her, beat her , hand cuffed her tortured her and did sexual things to her but didn't rape... Based on what you've told us there is a mountain of evidence against him and I assume there is a lot of text communication from her phone as evidence to this. Her distressed messages to friends and the lack of any communication between the assailant and her all prove he is lying and the proceedings against her are clearly intended to scare her. She needs to know this act of falsely suing her is more evidence of his guilt at trial. It doesn't solve the problem, but if it's breached, could it not be considered an aggrivating factor in terms of sentencing? If so, might get that POS put away for longer. Obviously ,right now he is in custody but for the future who knows , he has protection from the law or so it seems to do whatever he pleases. Paul It is, but I would get in touch with as many experts as possible and take this off VT, as this awful situation is way beyond what anyone on here knows how to deal with. Besides specialist women’s / rape / abuse charities, it may also help to get in touch with the local MP, because there are various aspects to this (the possible police corruption especially) that an MP will take an interest in, and they might also have some good advice and local connections to put you in touch with. Also potentially the local police and crime commissioner. It sounds like there is a mountain of evidence against him, and third party witnesses like the landlord and hotel staff to the stalking behaviour at the very least, so fingers crossed you get some resolution to this. I heard of a story close to this, a female friend getting raped on holiday, reported to uk police when she got home, totally ignored, even though he was from UK too. Fortunately someone who she knew mentioned it to a 'known family' and they took it into their own hands and delt with him out the legal system, apparently back of a van in the early hours, jail was to good for him as is in this case. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
