I am left scratching my head how I ever accepted the clubs basic value proposition when hiring Gerrard "Its ok for the assistant manager to do all the tactical thinking and the manager to be in the passenger seat attracting good players." I should have laughed at that from the start. Good for Beale & QPR tho. I have no problem with his career decisions, seems a smart move. A lot of people called it from the start but were shouted down. People were desperate to be positive about the appointment so I get it. It looked like nothing more than a vanity project from Purslow from day 1 to me. No way sacking Dean Smith for an inexperienced SPL manager who by all accounts left the coaching to his assistant was a purely footballing decision.
