U21 Development League 2022/2023

Recommended Posts

Wimbledon defeat recorded. Stats updated. Starting debut in the U21s for English defender Triston Rowe.  Northern Irish striker Omari Kellyman and Scottish striker Rory Wilson also came off the bench for their U21 debuts.  English midfielder Mikell Barnes didn't get off the bench but was making his matchday squad debut.  A very young team and a predictable defeat but by all accounts made a very good account of themselves and can be proud of a narrow 2-1 defeat. Crawley and Portsmouth drew 2-2 in the other group tie.

Monday's league results
Leeds United 5-1 Notts Forest
Sunderland   3-3 West Brom

Upcoming fixtures
Friday 9th September (all 19:00)
Aston Villa(5)   v Newcastle Utd(8)
Derby County(11) v Southampton(3)
Notts Forest(10) v Stoke City(9)
West Brom(7)     v Leeds United(1)
Middlesbrough(1) v Sunderland(6)

Next line up might be a bit different!

Brad Young, Lindley Hayden and Tyreik Wright joining the massed ranks of players we've loaned out.

Quite incredible really. The oldest non first team squad player we might have now is 18 apart from Marschall  ?

Bogarde and Swinkels OReilly and Hart  or am i missing someone obvious ...

Edit Revan is 19 isnt he ?

Ages are in the front page top post. It appears Frith at 20 is our oldest.

Aston Villa’s Premier League 2 fixture against Newcastle United on Friday and Aston Villa Women's Barclays WSL match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday have also been postponed.

For anyone that missed it, this was tucked away at the bottom of the statement on postponements.

It's really starting to blossom our youth programme. What an investment it could turn out to be, not just financially, but also us becoming a really exciting successful side full of young players all familiar with each other.

It certainly gets the juices flowing.

Still alot of luck needed for them to turn into proper premier league quality but imo we have Aaron Ramsey   Cameron Archer Kaine Kesler Big Tim , Ben Chrisene , Josh Feeney that seem destined for the top if everything works out.

Eventually probably  3 or maybe 4 will make it big time with us and the rest will fade away, but thats a huge hit rate even still.

Then we have other players like Barry and Philogene bubbling under as well. They are still young enough to kick on over the next 12 months, just like what happened with Cam Archer.

No live coverage as far as I'm aware, VillaTv only shows home games, and can't see that Stoke are showing the game.

It's 3-3 now, we threw away a three goal lead.

At least we're consistent 😂
