JPmorgan controls assets worth about 3 trillion dollars and is itself worth about 250 billion. I don't think they give a shit about their Google reviews.

Correct. You have to tailor the strategy to the opponent. An avalanche of bad Google reviews might persuade the village pub to start letting in dogs or your local garden centre to bring back the aquarium, but it's not going to bother JP Morgan. Nobody goes into investment banking because it will make them popular.

To put pressure on JP Morgan, the challenge is to demonstrate that there is no way they will get a return on investment. The best way to do that is a clear commitment that one way or another, legislative action will prevent the tournament from taking place.

To go back to what I was saying yesterday, it's time for people to start piling the pressure on to their local Tory MP.

Reports coming from Chelski and City is that they're bricking it. They'll likely be kicked out of the CL by Friday if they don't stop this foolishness asap. Abramovich and City's owners don't give a shit about cash, they're just in it because of the glory. With Perez being a PR trainwreck and popular opinion going down the tubes I can't see them staying in this much longer.

City and Chelsea are the ones that don't need this Super League so would make sense. Hope it's true.

Will be interesting if the other clubs try to pin this on Perez if it implodes. He might be a driving force and the spokesperson but Agnelli, Laporta/Bartomeu, Levy, The Glazers & The Fenway Group are just a big a crooks in all this.

What is the view of this in Spain/Italy?

What do fans of the teams like Granada and Bologna think. Have they played in an uncompetitive league system for so long that this move is by-the-by?

I would say that the Italian league is far from as uncompetitive as La Liga. Roma, Napoli and Fiorentina all have credible challenges to the top on occasion. La Liga is that way because Perez has screwed over the TV rights. Now he wants to do the same with the Premier League and the Italian league too.

My friends a Milan fan and he is fuming that this league will happen and that they signed up. I also imagine in Italy they have replaced Spurs as the joke 😂

Nah I imagine Spurs and Arsenal are still the jokes across Europe.

If this does all fall apart without moving much further forward, what’s the punishment they’ll face? Or at least, should face.

This super league idea is never going to go away, but it stands more chance of ****ing off if there’s an example made of those who are pushing it.

I've started to hope it goes through. I think far from being punished, they'll be offered concessions to stay. Rights over their own matches and/or a larger share of the TV money. Guaranteed European qualification and the like.

The damage has been done. There's no going back now. Either they piss off and leave us to proper football, or they get what they want another way and the PL and CL become the effectively closed shop.

Curious to see if it is actually binding or not, one wonders if PSG/Bayern were awaiting the reaction before potentially signing on but after seeing it pulled out altogether. 23 year binding contract apparently, there must be a clause in there surely to get out otherwise these clubs are screwed.

I like the part where he suggests that they might have to make the games shorter as the people watching lose interest if nothing happens.

I've been banging on for years about how they want to change the product (football) to cater to the American market and this has always been part of it. Add in some team challenges, VAR-reviews, time-outs and power breaks and you got a product where you can sell a whole lot more commercials.

4 points for kicking the soccer ball into the net, 6 points for heading in, 8 points for scoring  from outside the box etc.. games finishing 21-18

Well that is kind of true looking at the tv audiences demographics. Scary but true.

Whilst the ESL is a horrendous evil idea for these clubs it makes more sense than the CL reforms pushed through.

They are right that the viewing public don't really want to watch more boring group matches in which the very rich teams beat the not quite so rich teams.

I am not defending the ESL but the CL reforms are not really the answer imo.

Their proposed solution to this is folly. Chelsea vs Real Madrid is currently a big game. It won't be a big game if it's played 4 times a year. The CL knockout matches draw so much interest precisely because they are rare matchups.

Under their proposal where they stay in the domestic leagues, Tottenham vs Liverpool will be played 6 times a season. The idea that a massive number of people want to see the 6th match between Liverpool and Tottenham in a year is laughable, especially if it's PPV without an overarching TV deal.

The longer this stupid comp goes on, the more mundane these fixtures get.

People are losing interest in football because it’s boring watching the same teams on tv and the same teams at the top, buying the best players just because they can.

The Stupid League will just amplify that and make it even more boring!

We want football like it was in the 90’s, when teams like Wimbledon could go on a 20 match unbeaten run, players would score the strangest own goals, goal keepers would run miles off their lines to clear a ball,  fans could stand in grounds, tackles flew in, players were not on astronomical wages and would go to the pub after a match.

The simple answer to this is bring back the 4-4-2 formation!

When something is too slick and professional it gets boring.

Me and you would love that, but what would the 19 year old lad in Singapore tweet about if he couldn't watch some clearing in the woods like Neymar roll about on the floor with immaculate hair? They're the fans who count now mate. We're just 'legacy fans'.

**** 'em. Damage is irreparable. Kick the bastards out.

Heading will likely be banned as it is dangerous. Maybe they can bring back this abortion.

Huge fine, then reset the distribution of wealth in the PL.

BBC political editor has just said this is the biggest issue in parliament right now and there are meetings with various representatives today to see what can be done.

It's seen as a massive vote loser if allowed to happen - the Government feel they will be blamed.

With a minister coming out yesterday and saying if football doesn't stop it then they will, they've very much made their bed and will have to lie in it if they don't now.

Another thing I've just thought about is sponsors.  This whole plan is so universally unpopular you wonder if some companies will want their brand associated with it, at least in the short term.

i watched some of the discussion in parliament yesterday.

Now......usually i would completely agree that no politician does what they say they will do, but in this instance i do wonder, its such a national issue with so many of "the people" against it, the govt will know if they say they will do something and dont it would be like a shot to the head for them, they need to be seen to be on the right side of this argument.

Also, i found it almost funny yesterday that literally all the politicians were agreeing with each other, even an SNP politician was there saying "for the first time ever i agree completely with a conservative".

If the govt needs to get signed in to law some new legislation to stop this nonsense going on, i honestly think, with 100% confidence, that there would be no problem passing it in the commons.

lets just hope they do something, also.....i think Boris would want to do something, because cynically....it would make him look good.

We will see!
