Probably going to split in 2. From what I understand (mainly from this thread/VillaTalk generally) it is a "broad church" primarily based on the desire for independence. Politics apart from that stretch all across the political spectrum and once they gained independence/lost momentum it would likely lose support/split anyway. Suspect that is what is happening now but don't think it will fold completely.

Even Sturgeon now,  removed all trace.😂

They already did split, Alex Salmond now leads the Alba party which was set up in 2021. Maybe there will be significant defections to them?

Talking of which, you'd have to question the shit that was thrown his way by Sturgeon's allies now even if you didn't after Sturgeon lied (sorry forgot) about when she first heard of the allegations and all the other bollocks the SNP did to Salmond at that time.

I don´t think so,  ALBA don´t really register as a destination,  they are on 1% in Scotland.
Salmond comes across as a beaten man struggling to believe his own lies now,  reduced to doing little pubs and stuff like that now,

`The ALBA Big night in the Eagle`

They are trying to get donations all the time on Twitter at the moment.

Well they could always start a third Nationalist Party, that would be... very Monty Python :D

Splinter groups,  splinter groups everywhere 👍

Going back to this, isn't this probably just the same tactic as the Tories, removing all trace of Conservative from their Twitter Bios. Never did quite understand that one either

  • The SNP might be done,  no way back from all this.
  • Scottish Independant Party is going to be a new one (Something was going on with the domain).
  • Something is going on a 26 SNP MSP have dropped the SNP from their Twitter Bio's or disappeared completely for a bit.
  • Humza's is not a viable leader,  his first 2 weeks,  horrific.  To claim he knows nothing about nothing is just not believed,  he has run 2 or 3 departments,  all failed.
    • Claims he didn't know auditors quite 6 months ago.  100% lie IMO.
    • Motorhome,  never knew.

This has to be the most spectacular collapse of a major political party, ever. From comfortable dominance to total wipeout in a matter of days.

I’m not seeing that. What have I missed?  The SNP leader’s husband has been investigated over something, but not arrested even. She’s stood down and they’d got a new leader. There’s some fairly serious questions about where some money went and some MSPs have removed the SNP tag from their twitters.

Is that the collapse of a party?  The tories have done worse (and more of it ) and no one’s saying they’ve collapsed. I’m not a supporter of either, and both are rotten, but I don’t think either have spectacularly collapsed.

He was arrested, he's been released after questioning but an arrest was made

I think it's the latest polling that people are talking about. The new leader is very unpopular (as predicted)

The Westminster contingent may be slashed from 45 MPs to 25 according to the polling and Labour is only 2 points behind them

A proper secret video of Sturgeon was released today talking to the NEC.

This is unbelievably bad for Sturgeon. Every single day more stuff is coming out.  It is very funny to be fair.

I paraphrase but its basically "Don't tell anyone we're having serious money troubles because people will stop donating to us and we need the donations".

Legally she is on thin ice here I suspect,  she was very concerned the public don't find out about it either.

You're right, they have not been 'wiped out' (yet). A poor choice of words on my part. I meant loss of reputation. I should perhaps have said 'fall from grace'.

I think the SNP were just surfing a wave of Labour implosion + Etonian populism + Brexit, all of which are starting to lose their salience among voters (to varying extents).

For a long time, Sturgeon was able to present herself as the only grownup in the room, and the protector of Scotland from the populist Brexit Covid Killer cult.

That helped to gloss over the fact that the SNP has no coherent ideology or economic plan for Scotland beyond romantic nationalism.

The prospect of helping England to turf out the Tories in Westminster via a Labour majority could be very attractive to a lot of Scots at the next election, which is showing already in the polls - they've added about 10-15 pts since late 2021 (from ~18% to ~32% for General Election voting intention).

SNP infighting has obviously contributed to all of this, but I think a lot of bigger forces are at play that are beyond the SNP's control, and we're seeing a return to the natural order of UK politics, with Scotland being a Labour stronghold.

There seems to always be a trend with governments in power for extended periods. Always in fighting. Had with labour before cameron won, started with boris and continuing with sunak and now the same with the SNP
