I thought he meant on the playing side, I think obviously Cowans leaving has had an adverse effect on the academy. Since Houllier, any youth player to come though has not had the luxury of developing himself along side good solid "pros" in a good team, blooded in and rested for the good of the player. Before that MoN just bought in players and forced out the good ones (S. Davis - G Cahill). I really think a number of Youth "prospects" have been moved on who fell victim of the club being a shit-run club for the last 10 years (thats a lot of youngsters coming through). If we would have had a solid base of good pros to have playing either side/in front or behind them, I think we would have seen a lot more from the likes of Albrighton, Bannan, Whittingham, Delf..., Clark and a few others. Evidence now being Baker coming into a team with Chester, Jedi and an improving Amavi (albeit in Ch as opposed to PL level). But I feel more confident about Baker developing into a very good Ch defender possibly making the jump up to PL when the whole team develops under Bruce and with a better class of player brought in in Jan and the summer T-window. Since DoL left (C-unit I know) our youth players have been brought in to perform and not develope. Hung out to dry, critisized, demoralized then written off. Sad because the downward spiral has chain reacted everything to become shitier than need be for many years now. I hope Rounds vision for us and Bruces management skills allow us the luxury of having a conveyor belt of Youngster coming into the Squad, matchday 18, and 1st 11 year on years. 6 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Posted November 22, 2016 Moderator Share Posted November 22, 2016 Watched the U23's tonight and have to say there wasn't a player amongst them who grabbed the attention and made me think there's anyone knocking down the door of the manager for first team football. We are only just starting to sort out the first team,its too early yet to be chaperoning players, we need every available MAN in the first team to gain points.
