Barca transfer strategy in recent years has been mayhem.

They seem to have a wierd obssesion in recent times with buying Valencia players and then getting rid of them six months later, Andre Gomes and Paco Alacaer. Likes od Digne and Yerry Mina also fit in only being there a short while and then Everton coming in. Buying them with their flaws and then realising within first training session they don't have "Barca DNA" or Messi dosen't rate them.

Saw they were linked with Joao Cancelo recently who seems to be on a tour of playing for a major club in each league every year, just the 11 games for Man. City so far.

Also surprised they seem to want rid of Umtiti. Aswell as Messi you've got Alba, Busquets and Pique all into their 30s now and they don't operate with that big a squad so think they'll hit a few issues in next couple of years.

The biggest hole they never fixed was Dani Alves leaving.  He was a massive factor in their attacking play.

looks like you can add wague to the list of failed attempts, struggled to get a game at Nice and they've sent him back rather than take up their 15m euro option to buy

If i look at Barca squad i see Messi and Ter Stegen as top class,  Suarez will get goals but not star he was. Arthur, Lenglet and De Jong have potential but after that they have players they want rid of like Rakitic, Vidal, Alba players they paid big money for that havent performed and happy to sell like Semedo, Dembele, Coutinho or Griezmann or players that werent really good enough like Pique but still taking a big wage

GK - ter stegen is good enough for another 5-7 years, neto is a £25m waste of money

RB - semedo is ok, wague is back from loan, sergi Roberto is their best RB but he's a converted CM and cant get forward like alves which means they changed their system, emerson wont do a thing there so another £12m waste of money

CB - they have a good young core of umtitti, lenglet, todibo meaning that they should be phasing out pique

LB - they have firpo doing ok and then miranda and cucuralla out on loan but primed to break through, they don't need alba's wages anymore and should try and cah in on him to a PL team

CM - Busquets still has 2 years left in him despite his reduced mobility, de jong and Arthur are their midfield for the next 10 years, vidal can go, rakitic if they get good money for him can go, puig might break through, oriel Busquets I don't think will make it, Rafinha is still on the books, so is arda turan, Coutinho was a terrible signing

ATT - messi obviously stays even with his huge contract, suarez has 1 year left so I think they keep him and let him walk, dembele is a good player but one of the easiest to cash in on, Griezmann was a vanity signing, fati will be a star, abel ruiz will be a good enough back up, braithwaite was laughable

if they shift alba and pique then just freeing up the wages will give them enough capital to go out and get a dominating CB, they should have bought de ligt last summer rather than Griezmann, now they need the likes of skrinair or dias, then if they can shift vidal, coutino, rafinha and rakitic they just need decent back up in midfield and to keep some of the kids rather than send them all out on loan, the squad needs depth

Barca are more or less back where they were pre pep

Yeah. They honestly remind me of the Barca from mid 90s (with Hristo Stoichkov etc). Not the football, but aging star players and sort of energyless identityless side.

Personally I felt they shit the bed with signing Neymar and it all kind of collapsed from there. Spent stupid money on good footballers with rotten egos.

Should have been more sensible and maybe gone for some of the younger Dutch players instead.

Think since Neymar left they have been desperate to look like a big player in the market hence money they have wasted recently

Useful player I think Hendrick.

His ideal role though is right mid in a narrow, Sean-Dyche-4-4-2, he'll probably struggle if asked to do much different.

Jeff hendrick to AC Milan was a bizarre link the other day.

AC Milan have been a bizarre club for ages now. Why they make the signings they do ill never know. Bit like us, huge club that have accepted being below par for far too long. Players like Fabio Borini should never be plying their trade at these establishments

Chelsea making £10m profit on pasalic who is joining atalanta

Been there 6 years, 5 loans, never kicked a ball for Chelsea

Brighton having a crack at this sort of thing ATM. Well done to them for trying to replicate a successful strategy.

Think Lucas Piazon is longest serving Chelsea loan player. He played in the 8-0 v us.

Was his only Chelsea Premier League appearance, think he missed a penalty 😂
