The Football Association's technical director Dan Ashworth is to leave his role to take up the same position at Premier League side Brighton.

Ashworth joined the FA in 2013 from West Brom and was in charge of the England's elite men's and women's teams as well as FA education and coaching.

Brighton said Ashworth, 47, is "is set to begin his role with Albion in the spring".

The FA confirmed that Ashworth "has resigned as technical director".

It added: "The search for his successor will begin immediately, with Ashworth set to leave the organisation in the new year."

Ashworth said he had "thoroughly enjoyed" his time at the FA but the chance to become Brighton's first technical director was "a huge opportunity".

Seems we have a new scout - Juanfran Garcia. He will scout Spain and Portugal according to the article; chosen by Pitarch. I’m on my mobile so can’t link to it directly but it’s on the front page of superdeporte for those interested, on his Instagram page he was at Rayo stadium a few days ago with the caption “working”, he was also at the levante game on Monday so seems like we are actually doing something about the scouting for once.

Excellent!

If it's the old Valencia guy he's probably also the best LB we currently have at the club.

Our old boys team with him and Terry in defense will be smashing.

Juanfran García signs as a scout

The former international footballer has started working for the European champion in 1982 at the hands of García Pitarch

The first professional experience of Juanfran García in football since his retirement, in 2016, will not be in Levante UD . The Granota with most matches played at LaLiga Santander has started working on the historic Aston Villa . At 42, once acquired the titles of sports director and coach , the former captain and international has signed for the English team to act as scout in Spain and Portugal .

Suso García Pitarch , former sports director of Valencia, has endorsed the incorporation of Juanfran to the technical secretariat of the former European champion in 1982. The villains, now in 'The Championship', the English second division, have an ambitious project to return to the elite three seasons later. Currently they are eighths, three points from the sixth place, which allows to dispute the promotion of promotion.

The signing of Juanfran is part of the restructuring designed by García Pitarch, named sports director of Aston Villa two months ago. The incorporation of Dean Smith as coach, with Chelsea's former John Terry as second, were the first measures of La Pobla de Vallbona.

Farewell and debut in Vallecas

The one of Barona began to exert its new function last Friday in Rayo-Eibar. Through his Instagram profile, Juanfran announced that his "first match working" in what he likes most, in football, was in Vallecas. He also remembered that it was there where he had played his last game as a professional. This Monday he saw Levante-Athletic also live.

Ian McParland the son of Villa legend Peter McParland has joined us as new Chief Scout.

Aston Villa have appointed Ian McParland as their new senior scout.

The 57-year-old former Notts County boss recently joined the club in a talent-spotting role and will be assisting the rebuild over the summer.

McParland, who previously worked as a coach at Swindon and Ipswich among other clubs, is well-respected and works closely with sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch.

He’s already started checking out potential targets for next season and will be a leading force in Villa’s recruitment team.

The claret and blues are yet to appoint a chief scout and could well look to fill that role if promotion is achieved.

Villa decided against replacing Tony Coton, the man previously in that position, when he departed earlier in the season but are considering a restructure over the summer.

They have also been looking at ways to fill the gaps left by a major cull of the department in September.

Villa sacked Ian Atkins, the club’s former European scout and Tommy Mooney, the club’s ex-loans manager before a change of manager followed,

Other scouts and analysts were also axed by chief executive Christian Purslow during the early months of his reign.

Villa may continue operating without a chief scout if they remain in the Championship,

But they are now just one game away from a return to the Premier League after beating rivals West Brom in the play-off semi-final so changes could follow if they succeed.

He was a decent player. No relevance but our track record of players at Villa from Nantes or played for them is pretty poor.
