Is letting him go and finding out he is really a good idea though?

I think that's the crucial dilemma. Best case scenario is that we keep him here and he blossoms into the player we all want him to be.

If it's his attitude holding him back at the moment though, then maybe he'll always carry an air of swagger/arrogance about him that will always hold hom back. In that case, maybe he needs to move on in order to realise his full potential.

If and when grealish goes it will be to lot better club than boro and for far more than they could afford .

Anyway,  can we move on from Grealish? It seems absurd tbh, we need to keep him and get back in the PL asap with a good side and then he will eventually become a big player for us and much coveted by competing clubs - but hopefully unattainable due to our progress, success and his affinity for the club...trust in the Doc...

I'd really like to know who these outgoings are going to be...glad to hear that we will be working up to the deadline too.

Hull seem to have no problem offloading players and ripping up their team, how about another shot at Hernandez? Don't know how possible that would be but I'd prefer him over Rhodes (who I still wouldn't mind due to our need for a finisher).

Most likely, we will be offloading at least one forward and midfielder and be looking to bring in a LW and CF.

Looking at The Doc's tweet earlier, it seems like we have some options on two positions? And trying to get two players out?

LW - Gradel, Brady?, ?

CF - Rhodes, ?

Out - McCormack, Ayew?

Hopefully we're looking at getting a few others out too, sounds like we're trying to replace certain players with genuine, better quality...

Fck him off. He's a show pony, too flighty and not direct often enough. We need no nonsense battlers in this division, not someone who throws his arms up in a sulk (à la Kevin the teenager) when he gets shoved off the ball.

But that's only my opinion of course.

I think you're probably right.

This really bugs me about young footballers though. As a youngster, you should be playing as much as possible at as high a level you can.

There's usually no point signing a mega deal at somone like Spurs, because you're not going to playing regularly enough to carry on learning.

He's not exactly pulling trees up in the Championship at the monent. He should stick with us and apply himself until he's regularly turning in motm performances. Then he should move to the next level, maybe a Stoke type team (assuming we're still in the Championship/bottom prem). Play regularly,  rinse and repeat.

It really annoys me the number of talanted young players that throw their careers away by choosing the money option to sit on the bench at the Chelsea's or Man U's of the world.

Totally agree - greed is rife in football and players heads are easily turned .

i don't really think grealish would be interested in someone like boro and hope he sees himself staying and helping villa back up - should we get back in the premiership there are few better places to play than villa park and he can achieve much here.

more likely to see the likes of ayew and McCormack .

My first post....had to have my tuppence in response to this Grealish thing, sorry guys.

Historically I have not been JG's biggest fan, not because I don't think he can play but mainly because of the hype surrounding him. As with all our bright young things, the kid was never going to live up to the hype! His off the field antics did not warm me to him either!

On reflection however, at 19 he simply wasn't ready for the premier league. To me that is blindingly obvious, but he was thrown into a really poor side surrounded by players with even worse attitudes, and a lot of fans just expected too much, myself included. This season however, if people don't see the difference when he is on the pitch then I don't think it's worth arguing with them. He is (was before splurge) the only player we have that can travel with the ball, that can carry the ball from midfield into the final third. Excellent example of the difference he makes was the game against Leeds. When he went off just gone half time, the game changed like switching a channel!

I'm struggling to remember the last time we produced a kid with the natural, effortless ability Grealish has. His dribbling skills are there for all to see, and yes whilst he does lack the electric pace and acceleration of some, his almost noncelent ability to ghost pass players is rarely seen in young english footballers. He also has superb vision and his passing at times is wonderful. Yes, he still makes a lot of mistakes and his decision making lets him down at times....he is still learning.

Until the recent splurge on new talent, we only had one player at the club that offered the kind of football brain and movement up front, of the kind I that I would expect from a club of our stature, namely Ross McCormack....and when JG and RMc were on the field together, not very often granted, you could see how Grealish was probably the only player that saw the runs RMc was making, who was on that wavelength. I felt they would shine given time.

There is no doubt in my mind that surrounded by the new midfield we have brought in, JG will look a completely different player. In my mind we should give him the old fashioned 'free role' in the side, floating behind the main striker. Lansbury and Hourihane can hold the midfield and just let JG do what he does. He will create. If Brucey sticks with 4-2-3-1, then for me JG will be perfect in the middle of the '3'. Bjarnason and Adomah alongside with Kodija up top.

For fans to actually want him sold is beyond me, it really is. Each to their own though I suppose. To call him a 'show pony' is insane....it's not Division 5 of the Festival League, lol!

Grealish has to stay. It's not even up for discussion in my view. We should be building the team around him over the coming years. He has a lot to learn and we have the right man in charge to keep him on the straight and narrow. As was mentioned earlier, if he ever does leave it will be to a far bigger club than Middlesboro....

Now if we received a bid for his old man, that would be a different story....!

First post eh?

and a bloody gudd'en

Top post

Fouled you mean?

Bruce pulled him up on that and from what I can tell, he has stopped throwing his arms up in the air. He's still getting kicked of course, but I'm not sure what you want him specifically to do about that?

As well as LW & CF, we also need a LB really, cover for Amavi.

Haven't heard or read any links to such players for quite a while... Galloway loan has not worked out at West Brom and I've read that Everton want to end the loan early, a good option for us? Not sure if he'd get the game time here either though...

Ricardo Calder

Oscar Borg (when fit)

Nathan Baker (as a last resort)
