not seen anything concrete on it but what i did see was a suggestion they wont extend it beyond the election dates, so an extension to mid may is still on the table

not sure why May asked for June, before the elections is painfully obvious

What they've said is 21 months or GTFO from what I've seen reported

May has just confirmed at PMQs her intention not to ask for an extension beyond the 30th June even though the house has not passed a resolution approving the negotiated withdrawal agreement.

She keeps living down to your expectations eh.

It was described by someone on the TV as a 'nuclear' option and that was probably being kind.

The point was that Public Bills can be carried over between sessions and that they don't necessarily fall.

There's a bit of a parallel, isn't there - the default being that they fall, unless..... and no one really thinks it's a good idea, apart from the desperate tories - A bit like Brexit. then.

with then a thinly veiled threat from May that if its a long term delay she will quit...that wont end well for her

She'll at best just ignore it, at worst plough ahead even if the country will suffer for it.

She's not acting in the interests of the country. She's acting in the interests of herself and the bits of the Tory party keeping her in place. She'll do whatever is best for her in any coming scenario.

That's a guarantee. Like Cameron, but more so, she's going to be hoofed out in ignomy and rightly remembered as **** useless.

Actually, rereading the motion, I think that it only says that they agree that the government will seek to agree an extension if the WA is passed by 20th March. If that doesn't pass, it just says it is highly likely that the European Council would require a clear purpose (which they obviously won't have by then as they booted the indicative votes amendment) and that any extension beyond that which they have agree to seek would require EP elections to be held. It doesn't say, I don't think, that they would actually seek to agree a longer extension.

This point has just been put by Caroline Johnson (Tory MP) during an intervention on Kier Starmer in the emergency debate.

9 days until Brexit

Yes.

It's almost as though she has decided to ignore what was suggested by Lidington in the debate on the extension motion, to rely on the fact that it was 'conditional on there being a vote' and has half-heartedly sought an extension by making sure that she's asked for a date that they have already rejected.

May is to apparently 'speak to the notion' later. Everyone expecting something earth-shattering but it will probably be the same mix of blather and lies that she usually comes out with.

Tusk making a statement now.

Says that he thinks that an extension will be possible but it will be conditional upon the withdrawal agreement passing in the House of Commons.

And she doesn't get another vote on the WA unless something significant changes (such as an extension)

Unbelievably stupid situation.
