Yeah, I think it's completely pointless except as a way for Tory backbenchers to signal to the leadership that they don't support the bill, which I suspect is it's real purpose.

I don't know who this Tory is that's talking about Britain being a global moral authority that holds itself to a higher standard of EU countries. but he's wasted in the commons, he should be on the stand up circuit.

As above though, Ben Spencer, for example, didn't toe the line - he agreed with the idea of the IM bill but disagreed with the contentious bits.
