Loan Watch 2014-15

OutByEaster?

Recommended Posts

We've a few out on loan already, some that we're expecting back and some we're probably not - here's a place to keep an eye on them:

Antonio Luna - Verona

Aleksandar Tonev - Celtic

Daniel Johnson - Chesterfield

Jed Steer - Doncaster

Nicklas Helenius - Aab

Yacouba Sylla - Kayseri Erciyesspor

Joe Bennett - Brighton

Gary Gardner - Brighton

(Plus anyone else I've forgotten or not noticed.)

Enjoy.

I wouldn't mind seeing any of these players back at Villa, if their loan spells give them the development they need. More so Steer, Helenius and Luna, but still, even Johnson and Tonev could have a role to play here, if they up their games.

Find out how our Villans have done away from the club this weekend.

NICKLAS HELENIUS scored the winner for Aalborg as they defeated Copenhagen 1-0 in Silkeborg.

Helenius converted the first half penalty on 30 minutes after Danny Gorter was fouled in the box.

It was appropriate reward for the hosts, who started the game extremely strongly, with a couple of good chances before the goal.

Helenius played 79 minutes and was replaced by Thomas Enevoldsen - as Aalborg moved up to fourth in the Danish Superliga table after seven games played.

ALEKSANDAR TONEV made his Celtic debut as the Hoops beat Aberdeen 2-1 this weekend.

Tonev played 71 minutes for the hosts as they survived a spirited Dons fightback to gain their first win in five games.

Jason Denayer put Celtic into an early lead and Kris Commons made it two just after half-time.

David Goodwillie headed Aberdeen back into the game before Craig Gordon pulled off a string of saves.

The Dons continued to attack but could not find an equaliser.

GARY GARDNER and JOE BENNETT played 90 minutes as Brighton went down 3-2 at Brentford in the Championship.

Moses Odubajo angled in a drive and Andre Gray steered home Jake Bidwell's left-wing cross to put the Bees 2-0 up.

Brighton pulled one back through Gordon Greer's volley but fell two goals behind again when Jonathan Douglas powered in another Bidwell cross.

Danny Holla's 25-yard shot gave the visitors hope but Brentford managed to hold on for the three points.

The victory gave Brentford their third league win in four games as they moved into sixth place in the Championship.

Brighton suffered their first league defeat in four games.

JED STEER played 90 minutes between the sticks as Doncaster went down 3-0 away at Bristol City in League One.

There was a bad error from defender Cedric Evina, which compounded Doncaster's misery - and helped send Bristol City top of the table.

The Rovers defender dwelled on the ball on his own goal-line before the Robins' Mark Little nipped in.

Paul Dickov's side were already one down thanks to Aaron Wilbraham's close-range opener.

Harry Forrester was later sent off for a second yellow before Kieran Agard made it 3-0 with a deflected shot.

JANOI DONACIEN produced a strong defensive display for Tranmere in their 0-0 draw away at Hartlepool in League Two.

Donacien played 90 minutes and was excellent at the back - and he could even have won it for the visitors but he missed the target with a strike on goal.

DANIEL JOHNSON played 68 minutes as Chesterfield beat Scunthorpe 4-1 at home in League One.

Eoin Doyle put a missed penalty behind him to score a second-half hat-trick for the hosts.

Paddy Madden's turn and shot had put the Iron ahead before Doyle hit the crossbar from the spot.

He quickly made amends by converting debutant Sam Clucas's cross at the near post and then doubling his tally after being put clear by Villa loanee Johnson.

Doyle completed his treble from 12 yards after Niall Canavan had tripped him before Sam Morsy sealed the rout.

Chesterfield move up to fourth in the table.

YACOUBA SYLLA played 90 minutes as his side Kayseri Erciyesspor drew 2-2 with Gaziantepspor in the Turkish Super League.

Kayseri Erciyesspor went 2-0 up a half-time thanks to a goal by Jacques Zoua in the eighth minute and Oguzhan Turk's 39th minute own-goal.

However, the host hit back in the closing stages with substitute Ogulcan Caglayan finding the net in the 75th minute before Luis Francisco Grando found the equaliser with nine minutes remaining.

ANTONIO LUNA and Hellas Verona play this evening in a home clash with Palermo in Serie A.

Nice little feature from the official site. Hopefully going to be a regular thing.
