flamingsombrero
I admire his commitment to being an utter dicksplash right to the very end, it takes a lot to never grow as a person over such a long period of time. Well done Dave.

rosenthal
Approaching his 30s I don't think it's that big a deal that he decide to retire, throwing away most of the six years prior to it however ...

Popular Post TrentVilla Posted June 13, 2014 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted June 13, 2014 I'm might be alone here but I'm struggling to see why people are taking such an issue with this, unless they've not actually read what he has said. To paraphrase; * It's been over a year since i played * I've just had twins who are 3 months old and have a 4 year old and I want to focus on that * I didn't want to just keep playing for the money * I've loved every minute but I've had enough and I don't want to keep playing just for the money * I don't want to keep taking my family to places we don't want to be, life's too short So while i understand most of us would give our left nut to be a pro footballer I don't really have an issue with the guy for walking away and putting his family first. In fact I respect that, especially as it will cost him a lot of money and it will save a club being landed with a player who doesn't give a monkeys because there are plenty out there taking contracts that don't. So good luck to the guy I say.

The_Rev
Signs an insane six year deal at Spurs in 2008. Decides he doesn't love the game any more almost exactly six years later.

The_Rev
Probably neither. I'll bet he has made in the region of £25m (before tax) from his career when you consider he has had two fairly big transfers and was reportedly on £3m a year at Spurs. He can just invest that lot and live off the profits. Edited June 13, 2014 by The_Rev

The_Rev
Doesn't Robbie Fowler own about half of the houses in Merseyside at this point?
TrentVilla Posted June 13, 2014 Moderator Share Posted June 13, 2014 Doesn't Robbie Fowler own about half of the houses in Merseyside at this point? Merseyside, Manchester, Nottingham, London…. he has them all over the place. Not just houses either, he owns two huge old warehouses in Nottingham that are used as student accommodation, bars and a restaurant.
