Seat68
I used to watch this religiously, settle down with a bottle of wine and as a family predict who the winners were going to be. Will still watch but less excited about it, seemingly I turned 40 and turned into my granddad not know who any of them are, or if I do know who they are tutting and muttering god help us if there is a war. Still Katy Perry always brightens the day.
villa4europe
i used to watch it until i realised that its utter bollocks it would be like the oscars giving best film to transformers because lots of people watched it (which i know some people say wouldnt be a bad thing) kings of leon's album was average at best but they're kings of leon and everyone loves them... shouldnt be anywhere near best group i think people are manipulated with music more than any other media, such as radio 1 pronouncing Bastille as the biggest band to come out of british music for the last decade and everyone will love them, then playing their song twice an hour... the Brit Awards goes one of two ways, it either extends that agenda and forces even more garbage down your throat (i see bastille are all over it, but i could have used another example - Haim, **** off! another "best new band ever!" BBC special) or goes off on a completely forced left field choice that no one saw coming so that they can be edgy (im amazed amy whinehouse isnt up for something)

leemond2008
Lorde? the freaky band from Finland or somewhere that won the Eurovision a few years back? do people actually listen to them? I'm actually shocked, I know that I am not up on modern music but I barely know any of those people
AVFCDAN
You're thinking of the wrong lorde leemond, this one is a 40 year old masquerading as a 17 year old.
leemond2008
Oh right, I was thinking of the band that dressed up like a cross between a gang of orcs and slipknot.

Shillzz
i think people are manipulated with music more than any other media, such as radio 1 pronouncing Bastille as the biggest band to come out of british music for the last decade and everyone will love them, then playing their song twice an hour... Spot on ol' chap. This hits the nail on the head, Radio 1 have an opening for a couple of bands every year and can make whoever they like more famous than Hitler. This year it's been Bastille. I'll be hugely disappointed if a glorified cover band beat Disclosure, Rudimental & Arctic Monkeys to band of the year. Actually scratch that, I'll barely give a ****. Morley_crosses_to_Withe
It's like trying to get Victor Meldrew to give a jolly dance with you lot. Miserable bastards. If you think people are miserable in Off Topic, then I'd stay well away from the main board. There are people in there who make CED look jolly.

dAVe80
Like BBC3's festivals coverage, this is an opportunity to put names and faces to the songs I've hated over the past 12 months.
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
I liked the Bowie album. Far from his best but an old Bowie is still considerably better than that heap of dog jizz, with the exception of Arcade Fire and John Grant. bickster Posted February 19, 2014 Moderator Share Posted February 19, 2014 ...Arcade Fire and John Grant.AKA the token acts with artistic merit who will never win a brass razoo but are in there to lend credibility to the awardsThe worthiness of the Brits was highlighted many years ago when Annie Lennox kept winning best female solo artist year on year even though she had released zero product for about a decade. Shillzz
In fairness, there are some pretty good acts in there: Laura Mvula, London Grammar, Rudimental, Lorde, Tom Odell & Arctic Monkeys have all released some good stuff this year. Despite not being in a genre that I appreciate at all, Lorde's Royals is a great pop song. People are being unrealistic if they've expecting the Brits to cover the plethora of bands mentioned in Off-Topic that no one has ever heard of.
