Aston Villa up for Sale.....at a price

This all sounds a bit vague.

If he's trying to get a good price why neglect the 'franchise' to the point of possible relegation.

As long as the team is in the prem there will be potential buyers. If he can do that while keeping costs down then perfect for him.

I dare say all PL clubs have shot up in value in recent years due to massive TV deals etc. Considering we are a firmly established team inn a large metropolitan area, I wouldn't be surprised if we sold for quite a bit.

I've always said he'd do alright when he sells but £250 million seems a lot when you think about how much he bought us for.
But then didn't Carson Yeung have to pay £80 million for SHA five years ago!? We're five years down the line; we're a bigger club who's in the PL, and we've got multi million pound income streams including the huge TV deal.
True. Hopefully if we're worth that then there's someone out there willing to pay it.

IMO if he wants out he should be prepared to take a loss and not gamble our long term future so he ends up financially OK.

Good point - perhaps he knows he has lost a shed load of cash on project Aston Villa - and can't even bear to think about us. In the same way that people who clock up massive credit card bills don't check there statements..

Destroys the myth that the last few years was all so we could sort things out in order to invest and try again.

Only if it's true.

£250M is ludicrous, given the TV money, I would expect the value to be more like £125M to £150M.

I've no idea how businesses are valued - but I'm guessing ours currently makes around £100m a year - I'm not sure how much of that is profit, but I suspect we'll be in profit at the next set of accounts. £250m doesn't seem unreasonable to me. (This may be why I don't have £250m).

For Lerner, and in terms of getting his money back, I guess it depends on whether an imagined price of £250m includes paying off the loans.

If it does, then loans of around £100m and the £65m he paid, plus the £100m+ he's banged in since mean he'd probably take a small loss - which he'd probably deserve in terms of the way he's run the business.

If it doesn't include the loans, then he'd be looking at a profit of around £80m, plus he'd still be owed a hundred million. If that's the case, then I would think he could probably afford to sell for considerably less.

The more difficult bit is this - if someone wants to buy this club and has to worry, or stop and think, even for a moment about whether they can afford £250m then they aren't going to be a suitable owner for the club - to compete for Europa League football, a new owner will need to bang in £80m of their own money each season to get us into shape, for Champions league football, double that would be a minimum, and we'd be looking at this sort of investment for the best part of a decade at least. So maybe another billion on top of the asking price to make us what we can be. If they think the club should be £200m instead of £250m, then they're probably in the wrong game.

So, is there anyone out there with £1.25bn going spare?

Would anyone settle for Red Bull Villa now ?

You keep saying this. What do you know?
Just speculating, though Red Bull Villa does have a nice ring to it. Could Lerner be making us thst desperate we would accept anything ?

To be honest if Randy wants to sell and we're relegated he'll be the one with most to lose, I can't see him being able to sell if we drop to the Championship.

That seems a lot. Everton don't pump that amount in each year and spurs don't even do that do they?

We aren't in their position and to get there we'd need to spend. To stay there we'd still need to spend - getting into the Europa league means being better than Everton.

I don't even need Europa League status right now. I'd be HAPPY with 10th place, a couple of decent cup runs and good football on display by decent players.

This teetering on the edge while playing abysmal football routine is too much to bear.

if any persons really wanted AVFC they would buy it,if you can afford 100-200m you would pay it.. its the same if we are buying a second hand car,..whats £1000 or £2000 if you really want it? its all relevant but just add more 00000 in money terms, saying that i would say 90% of Premier League clubs are f/s at the right price.

who ever wants avfc must spend heavy to get it going again, players will come & manager to suit..its a money game-simple
