We have had poor full backs for a while and I think that has had a huge impact on our center halves. Anyone who has played football at any level knows that if someone to the left or right of you is rubbish you have to cover for them. Im a full believer that our Center Backs have had to cover our poorly positioned and poor defensive full backs. While not fully taking the responsibility away from our center backs they have had to sit deeper, play further apart, play 5 yards away from where they should be in order to cover space and players left by our full backs. Last ditch defending can only take you so far and that is what we have seen for a while from our defence. Vlaar didnt become a poor player over night and what showed in the world cup and his period of form was good positioning and interception as much as the tackling and heading.

Our current window has us signing Richards, Sinclair and Gueye. Normally you would be pleased with that, strengthening defence, midfield and attack but our squad is in need of major surgery. Keeping Delph is huge and would have liked to keep Cleverley but if we sign our media targets: Amavi Praet Townsend We will have had a fantastic window again strengthening defence, midfield and attack.Then if we could add another striker or 2 if we lose Benteke, Austin and ? Along with any of the youngsters we've been linked to Holgate (Barnsley) Byram and Cook (Leeds) Maddison (Coventry) Then we will have had a truly outstanding window. Seems far to unrealistic and very un villa like. I'm off to play football manager.

I'm not so sure Linked with Roma now, think he would look good in a Roma shirt. He's going to Man U IMO. He will be a good fit and I woulnt begrudge him for it.

In my experience in having to deal with suspending staff and disciplinarians they are just follow course. Typically you have to be given 48 hours after official notice of your investigation to then attend. They will do this quickly to avoid paying you for being off but it makes no difference generally to the outcome in my experience. Social media policy is in most contracts now and probably has been updated officially somewhere if it wasn't in your original contract. There will be degrees of severity and I do t see your as severe just a breach and it will be dealt with properly as somewhere down the line they will use the same procedure to get rid of someone and have to be uniform. Hasn't he got better stats than Ronaldo and Messi at the same age and I think I read he was second only to Hazard in chances created, dribbles and forward passes in the final 3rd in the last 2 seasons. In the same way the media over hyped him they now want to pull him down and he is now not that good because he wants to leave Liverppol. He is 20 years old and at times is superb. But yes he does run funny and has bad touches. Personally I think he is very effective and will be instantly better with and because of Silva and Aguero. Still over priced for a cocky petulant child.

Torres - Forlan - Aguero - Falcao - Costa - Manzukic and now Vietto and Martinez. Atletico certainly know how to find a striker. Just signed Carrasco from Monaco as well.

Hope he gets over his injury. This guy can be a beast and one of the top centre hands in the country. Wasn't just his fitness last season there was a lot of naivety and mistakes but you see glimpses of his quality and that Chelsea game certainly showed his ability. A lot of potential not sure he will develop as baker and Clark are better than him at the moment

Just had something Ive never had before. My assistant manager came to me saying that that my 22 year old World Class Brazilian striker is suffering from a severe lack of determination because of off field events. Nothing has happened but his determination has dropped from 15 to 3 and now he cant score for shit. Ive also had a error where now all players have got Anderlecht or Algeria as part of their playing history and have transfer histories over a billion.

That's true, but hasn't he only got one year on his contract? If they don't play him they might just sell, no point losing him for free. Such a shame he's not going to get a chance, Jose isn't much a gambler, not when there's a league to be won. So are Amavi and Praet but a lot of people are excited about that. The only way we wiłl progress as a club is to take risks on highly rated young players as we can't take them when they are developed. Need to become a breeding ground where if we have £10 mill to spend on someone highly rated they will join us instead of a big boy as they know that in two years time they will get that opportunity anyway while also having had a pay rose and gained some experience by joining us. Easier said than done and money has to be there but if opportunities arise where we can show some balls then we should do so. Gueye and Austin would be the next bracket up in terms of experience and I hope Sjerwood again has the balls to trump everyone like he seems to have done with Gueye.

I think if Klopp hadn't taken a break Rodgers would be gone. First sign of trouble and I think that will be the case. I would love to see a Benteke that is fired up under Klopp. I will never see that in a villa shirt unfortunately. If he goes to Liverpool then we have had 3 years out of him some great goals and £32 million. I will not say good luck to Liverpool but I watch enough football to enjoy watching good players and would be able bare him staying in the prem so that I can continue watching him.

Just hope we are lining up Bamford and Austin and are ready to pull the trig if Benteke looks like he's leaving

£8m though? Seems steep for such an untested player. (I know, I know... Fabian Delph etc.) You will get the same arguments regarding price as per but having watched him a fair few times he seems like he is going to be very good. More surprised Southampton didnt take him.

I just see Townsend, Huddlestone and Richards as the next decades Dunne, Barton and Ireland and players of that ilk. Obviously have talent and have shown it to an extent. Expensive, British and average. However better than we currently have and in Huddlestone and Richards id be relatively happy. However Townsend is a one trick pony all be it a trick (score from 20 yards+) that people love to see. His performance for England the other night was woeful, run, run, run inside, head down, shoot and that is his general play IMO. Would be £12 million up the wall.
